Its easy to lose big here. Every hotel has a casino and you have to walk through to get where you're going.

Casinos are after your money and you never will outlast them
but if you wanna have some fun, see shows, having a good meal, each of the Casinos have thousand things to offer for your money. sometimes it is just the heat of Vegas you want to escape

Now, there is a reason that Vegas is booming and that companies can build 15,000 room hotels with huge replicas of Venice, NY and Paris...and I'll tell you what, it's ain't LUCK. Luck is probably the most popular word in Vegas. Everybody tells you 'good luck' but the fact is, you are much more likely to have a little luck if you play the right games and actually learn how to play them properly.
Vegas casino's make money by reserving a statistical advantage in each of the games, they offer. That means so long as people play, they are guaranteed a win. That's why they try to get you to come. All the shrimp cocktails, shows, rooms, tigers, girls etc. are there for one reason and one reason only...to get you to play.
Now. Each game offers differing statistical advantages to you and each has arcane rules designed to shave a few fractions of a decimal point towards the casino's advantage. Roulette offers you the worst odds. Craps and Blackjacks offers the best if played correctly.
They Key is to play correctly. I don't know craps, but black jack (21) has a basic strategy that Statistics professors have developed. For each combination of cards you hold and the dealer is showing, there is a perfect way to play which increases your chances.
If you don't know these ways of playing called Basic Black jack Strategy, THEN DON'T PLAY! (unless of course you are not friends with Jackson, Grant & Franklin,)

Some of what I am going to say may seem like common sense, but I find that some people lack in that area...
1. Keep your purse, wallet or fanny pack on you at all times. Do NOT sit it down anywhere. I usually carry a fanny pack, which is in your view and in your close personal space at all times. You would know if someone reached towards THAT area ;)
2. Keep a close eye on your chips at the tables. It would be very easy for someone to reach over and grab your chips while you are looking the other way, even for a moment. There are pros at this!
3. Don't flash around your winnings, and keep them low key. I personally do not carry chips in my hands, you risk dropping them or someone snatching them from your hands. I wouldn't brag about them either, you never know who may be in earshot...
4. If you win a large amount, ask the hotel if they offer safe deposit boxes. DO NOT leave large amounts of cash in your room! All is takes is one shady cleaning lady...

A buddy of mine just got back from Vegas and was showing me a brochure that's produced by the state. It's located, appropriately, at all the ATMs near the strip and gives helpful information for individuals who may have a gambling addiction (seriously!).
Gambling can be addictive, so only bring money that you can afford to lose. Don't take out a second mortgage to finance your trip!

While in LV we also went to one of the casinos and Cris was lucky enough to even win I think $200 *g* not the world, but we also didn't lose ;-)
Anyway, there are a few things you should consider.
I'd recommend you to set a budget limit and stick to it. Leave credit cards at home.
There's a reason why casinos dont have clocks or windows and naturally they wanna keep you there long, make you forgetting the time, the longer you are there, the more you might lose. Take a break every now and then and 'refresh' your brain. Try to avoid alcohol. Leave a Comment

Working on the Strip, I have seen some pretty amazing and pathetic things, but the worst is seeing people throw everything away at the tables or in the slots... sometime to the point that they don't have cab fare to get back to the airport! Just watch yourself... you've worked hard for your money, and I'd rather see you throw it all away on booze. Leave a Comment

You know you have heard it before, "I just lost $100, I have to get it back!" as they head to the ATM...
Here is a system that has never failed me yet... Allot yourself a reasonable amount of money that you CAN afford to part with incase you are having an off night. Let's say $50. As I play and begin to profit, the original $50 in chips go into my pocket. If I am having a bad night, and loose my allotment, I am done for the night. I only play off the profitted chips.
I have never lost more than my $50 gambling allowance in a night, and usually win ;) Leave a Comment

It is very easy to get lost in some of the casinos; this is done on purpose to trap you! Never in my life have I felt clostrophobic until I visited MGM and spent an hour trying to find my way out. I started freaking! If you pay attention to where you entered and where you're going then this shouldn't be a problem. Leave a Comment

Don't get too drunk while you're gambling. We watched some poor guy who was s**tfaced at the roulette wheel. He had a big pile of chips when we arrived and he was throwing them to the spinner as tips and knocking them on the floor, crawling on all fours under the table to pick them up, knocking peoples drinks over as he flung his arms around when he won. The checker just came over and watched him until he lost most of his money and THEN they move him on. I won't say which casino this was because it doesn't matter, any of them would do the same. They are in the business of taking your money from you and it's up to you to keep a clear head so you can quit while you're ahead. Leave a Comment
