 | Las Vegas Stratosphere Reviews | 61 - 70 of 76 | | This is the view outside our hotel but unfortunately I was unable to visit the Stratosphere or its observation deck. I could see and was told there is two themed rides, both a roller coaster and a ride that fires you up to the top of the tower on the observation deck. Leave a Comment Phone: (800) 998-6937

Well the stratosphere has yet another ride aded to their top of the world. They call it the X-Scream, it will plunge you over the edge of the stratosphere tower at a height of 866 feet above the ground (compare with over 100 floors). Although it might have a short track (about 31 feet over the edge of the tower) you really do not have to have a fear of heights. Onxe your are safely seated the ride tumbles forwards and the cart goes with a speed of 30 mph over the edges and leaves you hanging for a while to enjoy the view.. It might not be the fastest attractions or the longest attraction but you should try it...Niki decided not to she took the pictures and a short movie...just mail me if you want to see that. When The Stratosphere opened in 1996 it seemed like a good idea. They built a 1,149 foot Tower (the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River.) and surrounded it by a hotel and casino. But despite being on the Strip, it's a healthy walk from most of the other popular hotels. The nearest casino is the Sahara, which are 5 very long blocks away. This, the hefty price charged for the privilege of going up to the top of the tower kept the crowds away, and heavy competition caused the hotel to sink into bankruptcy. A new owner bought the hotel several years ago and immediately started pumping money into. First on their list was the completion of the half-built room tower that had been held up. Then the casino was remodeled with new carpeting, wall treatments, and a revised layout helped the traffic flow and the general feeling of the place. Now it has a midway area with kiddie-oriented rides, a pool with a view, and some of the friendliest, most accommodating staff in town. And then of course there's the Tower. The outdoor observation deck hovers at the 869-foot level, while the indoor deck, at 857-feet-high, has one of the most amazing views in Vegas. The indoor deck is also the loading area for the thrill rides, Big Shot, X-Scream and High Roller. Reaching a maximum height of 1,049 feet, Big Shot launches passengers 160 feet in 2.5 seconds at 45 mph. X-Scream functions like a giant see-saw that propels riders 30 feet over the tower's edge and leaves them dangling over the Las Vegas Strip. The High Roller (the world's highest roller coaster) speeds around the edge of the tower 909 feet above ground -- truly exhilarating. Now for viewing pleasure it doesn’t compare with many of the other hotels, but it does offer some of the best rates, and it’s kid friendly. Leave a Comment

Yeah it's touristy, and yeah it's overpriced, but you have to go to the top of the Stratosphere at night to see the whole city in lights. You can walk around and see a 360 degree view of everything. If you are daring you can also ride the roller coaster above the viewing platform. Leave a Comment Directions: South end of the Strip

You go to the stratosphere in order to ride the rides or to take in the view and thats about it. The Stratosphere is the northernmost resort on the strip. To be completely honest, when comparing this hotel to some of the newer, more extravagant hotels to the south it simply doesn't stack up well. Leave a Comment Phone: (800) 998-6937

The Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. From the top you can see the entire Las Vegas Strip. It's worth going up there just for the view alone. But if that's not enough, you can try the theme park rides at the top of the building. Phone: (800) 998-6937

The Stratosphere is a high tower and part of the Stratosphere Casino. When we got inside the casino I thought it was worn and shabby. There were only small shops selling touristy stuff and it was a bit tacky. I would never ever stay at the Stratosphere. We bought the tickets for the tower at the second floor at the ticket booth, but we had to walk through all the shops and cafes to get to the entrance of the tower. Everyone had to pose for a photo before getting in to the elevator.. (hate that..) Up in the tower there's a Starbucks, it was a bit more expensive than other Starbucks. Anyway, you can enjoy the view inside the tower behind the large glass windows.. or you can go outside (up a floor). We almost missed the outside balcony..cause there weren't any signs or anything. I have to admit I was a bit dissapointed as the view over the Strip was quite unimpressive, lots of construction sites.. I think it's better at night! When the neon lights are blinking. There are some rides as well, some crazy rollercoasters where you are tipped outside the tower and then back again.. several times. They close it down when it's too windy. I didn't have the guts to do it though and I never will. Phone: (800) 998-6937Directions: North Strip

The Stratosphere is great to do those daredevil rides all the way at the top. You can also get a great view of Vegas from the top. The Stratosphere thrill rides are the world’s four tallest: the Big Shot, High Roller coaster, X-Scream and the new Insanity. I have tried three of the four rides up here and they were definately exciting! I am not sure what i paid for them but it wasnt too bad and yes it was worth it.
