 | Las Vegas Stratosphere Reviews | 11 - 20 of 76 | | Take the ride to the top of the Stratosphere Tower about 45 min prior to sunset. (any local can tell you what time the sun will be going down.) This is the best place in town to watch the sunset over the mountains, and see the lights come up on the strip. You'll also get a good idea of just how far those casinos are from each other. Distances can be a little decieving from ground level. The walk you're thinking of taking is usually farther than you estimate. Just remember our major cross streets - Sahara-Desert Inn-Flamingo-Tropicana - are 1 mile apart. Leave a Comment Directions: North End of Las Vegas Blvd.

Security is tight and they inspect and have everyone go thru metal detector. They also have a huge list of rules before you can go up in the tower. Make sure you read them before you either purchase your tickets or before you head for the entrance incase you have to leave something at the car or bell desk. Since opening in 1996, this 1,141-foot-tall Stratosphere Tower has captured the attention of everyone alike. It is 869 feet high with a 360-view of the city, the Stratosphere's outdoor observation deck is the tallest of its kind in the country. Yet, I hate heights, but I enjoy this. What a spectacular view. I keep telling myself I am going to do this at night and some day, I will. A TIP: If you hate heights and get some vertigo, go outside on the deck, do not stay inside it makes it worse. I noticed the observation glass is set at an angle, so it kinds of distorts the senses. I know, I know, but it helped me and the fresh air helps too. What a view!!! Hours of operation: Sunday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 1 a.m. Fridays, Saturdays and holidays, 10 a.m. - 2 a.m. Cost: Please either check the website of call the attraction for current cost. Are you mad? Then you must try this....a rollercoaster ride with a difference. The tower of the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino is the tallest freestanding tower in the US and apart from a revolving restaurant on top of its 1150ft tower there are also three maniac rides! Only one was operating when we went because of high winds but I was the one that was screaming and I was only watching!! After the double-decker lift ride at 1800ft per minute to the top of the Stratosphere the walk round the inside of the tower is enough to turn your stomach if you suffer from vertigo, but go outside onto the terrace and watch the lunatics putting on their best brave face and you really will feel like screaming! The ride consists of a rollercoaster car that seats 8 on a rail on an arm that swings out into oblivion high above the Strip. If that is not enough to blow your mind, the arm then dips and the car rolls forward stopping..obviously.. feet from the end of the rail. Then it dips again and rolls forward even further!! By this time Id almost died!!

This is the highest building west of the Mississippi at 1149 feet. 75 second ascent to the top (109th floor). Highest roller coaster in the world spins around the top. It's quite slow and is closed on windy days. The Big Shot is a 4 person open air couch which takes you another 160 feet up and then drops you into a freefall. You get a fantastic 360 degree view of Vegas and the surrounding mountains/desert. Leave a Comment

At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. From the observation decks, lounge, restaurant, meeting & banquet space and private dining rooms, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding valley. Best time to see this is at night. It is a long elevator ride, and for those who are afraid of heights I warn you now, you wont like this. The tower moves 6" to each side and you CAN feel it. It took me awhile to walk away from the door. (Yes I am scared of heights). The views are breath taking. It also very peaceful up there. ($9.00. You can find a coupon for this) Leave a Comment Phone: (800) 998-6937

At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. From the observation decks, lounge, restaurant, meeting, banquet and private dining rooms, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding valley. Visitors are whisked from ground level to the observation decks in less than 30 seconds in double decker elevators traveling at speeds of 1,800 feet per minute or three floors a second. Thrill seekers can enjoy excitement over 100 stories above the ground on the Big Shot thrill ride and the High Roller roller coaster. For the less daring, there is the Strat-O-Fair midway attraction. The Strat-O-Fair features a renovated Ferris Wheel circa 1958, and a child size Little Shot. The décor is a 1960s view of the future and is complete with 3-D Hyper Bowl, midway games and two food outlets. The Tower is open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, Saturday and holidays. The tower is equipped with a special lighting system designed to provide a spectacular dancing light show nightly, which is visible throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Leave a Comment

The Stratosphere Tower is a Must See in a Sea of Must Sees... In an area as flat as Vegas, a scenic lookout like the Stratosphere offers an uninterrupted view of Vegas and the surrounding areas in their entirety. Unlike some towers, there are a few fun things to do while you're at the top... you can ride a rollercoaster, get your character painted, read the maps that tell you what you're looking at, get a bite to eat, play some video games, and shop for some souvenirs. The rollercoaster looked a little too scary for my liking, but the free-fall ride looked even scarier. In a high-wind you can feel the tower sway a bit, so there was no way I was going to get on some thrill ride when I was already thrilled enough! Leave a Comment

When you visit the tower at the top of the Stratosphere, there are webcams for the world to see. Call a friend, have them go to the website, and take a screen shot. Turned out a lot better than the pictures they take and try to sell to you. Plus it's free! You do have to pay admission to go up the tower, plus we paid to ride one of the rides. PLEASE NOTE: THE WEBCAMS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE! Phone: (800) 998-6937
