The British Airways London Eye
  • Tip Rating:
  • The British Airways London Eye is one of the most popular attractions in London. However, I think it is an ugly and tacky eyesore intruding upon the classic skyline of London. And because of its popularity (it accommodates about 15,000 people per day), a trip to the top involves a long wait in a large crowd.

The British Airways London Eye was designed by David Marks and Julia Barfield. It took over six years to complete, and was finished in 1999. The wheel rises to a height of 443 feet (135 meters), making it the tallest observation wheel in the world, twice the height of the famous Prater Wheel in Vienna, and 98 feet (30 meters) higher than the previous record-holder in Yokohama, Japan.

Despite my misgivings about the wheel, it does offer spectacular 360-degree views over central London, and on a clear day visitors can see over 25 miles (40 kilometers) in each direction from one of the 32 capsules that can hold 25 people each.

    Stonehenge
  • Tip Rating:
  • Surprised? As much as i love history, i was not impressed with Stonehenge. There are stone circles in quite a few places in the UK. This is the most famous and the most touristed. You pay to go onto the grounds, but you can't get close enough to touch the stones. There is the inevitable visitor center as well.

You can get a good photo from the side of the road and it's free.

Go to the stone circle in Avebury, also in Wiltshire. You can wander around the stones that are in a field. There is also a little inn there where you can sit and have a drink and a meal.

    BIG BEN
  • Tip Rating:
  • Big Ben is one of London's best-known landmarks, and looks most spectacular at night when the clock faces are illuminated. You even know when parliament is in session, because a light shines above the clock face.
The four dials of the clock are 23 feet square, the minute hand is 14 feet long and the figures are 2 feet high. Minutely regulated with a stack of coins placed on the huge pendulum, Big Ben is an excellent timekeeper, which has rarely stopped.

The name Big Ben actually refers not to the clock-tower itself , but to the thirteen ton bell hung within. The bell was named after the first commissioner of works, Sir Benjamin Hall.

    Loch Ness
  • Tip Rating:
  • Loch Ness is THE most overrated sight in Scotland. Not only does Nessie never show her face when tourists are about but the lake itself is actually not very beautiful at all compared to all other Scottish lochs tucked away in craig-looking valleys. Loch Ness could have been picked from somewhere in Scandinavia with its beech trees everywhere and nothing wrong with that but it doesn't represent that Scottish desolate wilderness at all. The worst place you can go to is Drumnadrochit where most buses take you. A giant plastic monster and a souvenir shop awaits you and so does hoards of tourists.

Have a look at Castle Urquhart. If you are into horses you can also trek at Drumnadrochit equestrian centre but I don't know how far in advance you have to book.

Stay in Inverness, or if you like history, visit Culloden battlefield. Alternatively, leave this area for somewhere scenic like Glencoe!

    Keep the ticket please!
  • Tip Rating:
  • For the ticket bus which look like this one showed in the picture, the ticket remains the property of London buses and it is not transferable from one passenger to another, it must be given up on expiry or to ticket inspecting staff on demand, also the ticket is valid for use until 4.30 am on the day after the date overleaf.

    If its tourist traps yer...
  • Tip Rating:
  • If its tourist traps yer looking fro thengo to the town of holmfirth around 45 mins drive away. Here the well known tv series last of the summer wine is filmed. If yer lucky u can sometimes catch filming. on certain days theres a craft market and there are many small gift shops to mull about in.
If its shopping you like then go to the nearby shopping centre meadowhall. Its 1.2 sq million feet of shopping space and has over 270 sopping outlets. Also it has a 11 screen cinema and a multitude of restaurants and pubs including a hard rock cafe which is excellent. If any of u have ever watched the full monty then this is the area it was filmed in and meadowhall is the shopping centre in the film.
Any1 fom the area may also have heard of denby dale which is famous for the making of a gigantic pie made every year. Worth a look if u like pies heheh

And there is also fun here!
  • Tip Rating:
  • In the most wonderful museums in London: Natural History Museum, you have all kinds of excellent sections to visit, but it is not rare to have fun while doing this, some times the system of education is by playing game!
for both kids and adults I think this is an excellent way to make the person never forget the information, and some places you can see such an odd mirrors where it deform your image in a very funny way :-D
