Enter the Catedral by the main entrance. You will soon find yourself engulfed in its glowing darkness and slightly scented air (from the numerous candles). Inside are several traditional but highly ornate chapels, beautifuly designed high-backed choir pews, carved lower-backed benches, an elegant retrochoir, and the magnificent tomb of Santa Eulàlia located in a crypt beneath the altar. The tomb of Santa Eulàlia is an important 14th century work of art, executed in alabaster or marble (I wasn't sure).
Construction on this cathedral began in 1298. There is a main area consisting of 3 naves and an aspe with an ambulatory beneath an octoganal dome. Two 14th and 15th century towers rise at each end of the transept.
You can take an elevator to the roof where you get specatcular views of Barcelona and a close up view at the cathedral towers and roof.
It very much worth the price to go up!
Unfortunately, when we were there, the facade was undergoing some much needed rennovation. As such, you see this picture is not my best, but the best we had of the Catedral. Located in the fishermans quarter and now the chickest quarter in Barcelona, el Born, where there is a lot of bars a lot of terraces in summer, great alley and narrow streets

Located in the Barri Gotic, the Catedral le Seu is a one of my favorite spots in BCN. I had to revisit again and again. It has many nooks and crannies to explore. My favorite part of this beautiful cathedral was of course it's unique cloister. A little oasis with beautiful flowers, trees, fountains, and the 13 famous white geese. I found it completely enchanting.
The oddest thing in this church had to be the toilet. It is located right in the middle of the cloister amongst all the greenery. You would never know it was there, they gave me a map when I asked where it was!

If you do decide to enter the cathedral there are many pieces worth seeing. There are countless chapels and altars along the inner edges. Specific to Catalan Gothic, the choir is in the middle of the nave and is quite ornate. They ask for a 4Euro donation and audio infomation boxes are located on either side of the choir, in Catalan, Castellano, French, German, and English. The roof tour is also worth the visit and is open from 10am. The cost is 2Euro donation and much of the Barri Gotic can be seen, as well as most of Barcelona. Leave a Comment

This cathedral is located in the heart of the Gothic quarter, most of it was built in the 13th and 15th century. The interior is really impressive with a blend of medieval and renaissance styles. There are 29 side chapels inside. The best view of the cathedral is from Placa de la Seu. You can also visit the roof by lift for 2 euros. Leave a Comment Phone: 933151554Directions: Barri Gotic. There are a lot of beautiful places inside the Cathedral. The most wonderful could be the choir with its carved and polycromed chairs. This area is dividing the central nave, as in the most of Spanish cathedrals. The crypt of Saint Eulalia is under the high altar, where the patron saint is buried. The Pope John Paul II prayed here in 1982. There are a lot of nice chapels next to the walls and in the ambulatory which worth a visit. There is a secluded Gothic cloister where thirteen white geese are kept because it is said that Saint Eulalia was 13 of them when she was murdered. There is a fountain in it, devoted to Saint George, patron saint of Catalonia and Aragon.
Hay muchos lugares bonitos dentro de la catedral. La más impresionante de todas ellas puede ser el coro con su sillería esculpida y policromada. Esta zona divide la nave central, como en la mayoría de las catedrales españolas. La cripta de Santa Eulalia está bajo el altar mayor, donde está enterrada la patrona. El Papa Juan Pablo II rezó aquí en 1982. Hay muchas capillas junto a los muros y en la girola que merecen una visita. También hay un claustro gótico apartado del edificio donde se cuida a 13 gansos porque se dice que Santa Eulalia tenía 13 de ellos cuando fue asesinada. En él hay una fuente dedicada a San Jorge, patrón de Cataluña y Aragón.

The BCN Cathedral is a nice gothic building located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter.
You can visit the interior (don't wear sleeveless shirts or shorts) and the Cloisters, a wonderful patio with exotic palm trees.

The cathedral of Santa Eulalia, or sometimes called La Seu is probably the main focal point of the Bari Gothic area in Barcelona.
This beautiful Gothic church is a sight to be amazed. Or is it just that I'm a sucker for Gothic architecture?
There are statues on display inside ... and of course the crypt of Santa Eulalia. However the most peculiar thing is perhaps the cloister as they keep 13 geese there :)
Why? I've been told that Santa Eulalia was 13 when she died.

The official name is Cathedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulalia. Already in 343 AD it was built a basilica at this place, but it was destroyed in 985. A roman cathedral was built here between 1046 and 1058. A Roman chapel, the Capella de Santa Llucia, was added between 1257 and 1268.
Then in 1298 started the construction of the gothic cathedral, where the existing roman building was demolished except for the Santa Llucia chapel.
It took untill 1460 before the main building was completed. The gothic facade was finished much later, in 1889 and the last part, the central spire, was completed in 1913.
The church is 93m long and 40m wide. The octagonal clock towers reach a height of more than 50m. They were built between 1386 and 1393. The spire of the central tower reaches a height of 70m.
