 | Budapest Budapest at night Reviews | 1 - 10 of 73 | | In the center of Budapest, especially in the 7th district there are a couple of mostly open air places which are quite populer among young Hungarians lately. They are located in the gardens of old residential houses, which are not used at the moment, some of them might even be under deconstruction soon... This are right now (until the good weather lasts) the best places to go, if You want to have a drink, talk to friends, listen to music, and in some cases (Szoda garden) if You want to dance. They are not easy to find at first, but just go to the Synagogue (Dohány street) and ask anyone about them (or ask me :)! Places between walking distance in the area: Szoda Garden, Szimpla Garden, Szimpla Little Garden, Mummus, etc...:) OK, just an addittion to the tips: some addresses! :) Szimpla Kert: 7th district, Kazinczy u. 14. Szimpla Kiskert: 6th district, Hegedű u. 3. Szóda udvar: 7th district, Dob u. 19. Holdudvar: 8th district, Múzeum krt. 6-8. (inside the ELTE University"s campus.) West Balkan: 8th districtKisfaludy utca 36 (behind the Corvin Cinema, at the Corvin square, near the Ferenc krt. metro station) Mumus Udvar : 7th district, Kisdiófa u. 16. Kultiplex: 9th district, Kinizsi u 28. Tetthely: 7th district, Csányi u. 5. And then there is also the A38 boat ojn the Danube at the Petofi Bridge, cha-cha-cha terasz on the Margaret Island, and so many more!! :)
Whatever you want to wear is just fine :) Leave a Comment Theme: DancingAddress: See above!Directions: The general area is the old jewish part of the city (with the biggest synagogue of Europe at it's front end, near the Astoria metro station).

Kameleon is set on the top floor of Mammut shopping centre, is a large one level bar with half of it's space dedicated to the dance floor. Being located in a flash new shopping centre might not be the most obvious place for the hottest club in Budapest - but what can you do? Forget the chameleon reference, the overwhelming theme here is hot - as in red hot. Everything from the walls to the plush sofas to the go-go dancers catwalk is done up in deep red with flickering gold flame patterns. Leave a Comment Theme: Dancing

Between the Chain bridge and Elisabeth-bridge you may find a lot of great restaurant-ships docked and waiting there for guests - even in winter 3 of them were opened and in summer there will be more of them, including a Casino-ship. The view on the castle is stunning, although some tourists might prefer to go on a Dinner-cruise instead of staying at the same spot all the time. On the other hand, a restaurant-ship like "the spoon" on my picture is certainly the better choice for a perfect dining-atmosphere. Click on the link below and have a look at their web-page !
The spoon seems to be the most formal of all these restaurant-ships. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingPhone: +36 (1) 411-0933Directions: Take a walk along the Danube and you will see them close to the Chain-bridge.Website: http://www.spooncafe.hu

The castle of Buda is beautifully lighted at night and walking through its park is easy and offers great panorama-views over the Danube, Buda and Pest. This picture was taken in january 2005 at 09.00p.m. and almost nobody else was to be seen in the garden. Some places of the castle-hill seem to be sensitive regarding terrorist attacks maybe, because you will see some policemen on the watch - BUT somehow this fact also adds some more security for ordinary tourists.
Good shoes are best when you intend to WALK down afterwards over the steps ( the funicular will stop running down at 10.00p.m.) Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: This picture was taken inside the park of the castle in Buda - it is open all night.

Vigadó / Pester Redoute is a beautiful old palace and music-hall, where you may still attend concerts at special times. It seems to be at least partly under reconstruction now, but it looks great already from outside and might be worth to take a closer look at the lovely Romantik facade. In this music-hall Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner had a concert in the year 1885.
In general you would not need to be dressed formally for such a concert. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Vigadó térDirections: Take tram #2 or leave the metro at the station Vörösmarty tér. The buses #2 and #15 go there as well and even the cruise-ships have their own landing-stage there, called "Vigadó"

Fisher Bastion is a really romantic place at night and especially photomaniacs will realize, that all of the tourists are somewhere else and taking pictures is really easy then. Everything is beautifully lighted -also in wintertime - and all of the places that you may enter freely during the day will be also open all night.
NObody cares about that, but in winter it might be the best to have good shoes and be maybe extra careful because of eventual icy spots. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: This picture of the parliament was taken from Fisher Bastion.

You must sit back and cruise along Budapest beautiful River Danube. From the river you can admire the Parliament House, the Castle, the bridges, the Gellert Hotel, etc... I'd reccomend an organized night cruise (the one's with dinner are especially good) as the views from the Danube are stunning and the city has an entirely different feel by moonlight.- Tomen asiento y disfruten de un crucero a lo largo del rio Danubio.

You can walk around the main people places if the weather is fine. Oktogon then to Ference Liszt Square, used to be hip 5 years ago now just tourists and pleb wanna be famous, look at me Hungarians. Stroll down Andrassy to Deak Ter, then swing left to Astoria. Either go straight down Muzeum Korut to Kalvin Ter then left up Raday utca or take a left on Rakoczi utca towards Blaha Ter. Even a stroll on the paralell streets Dob utca or Dohanyi utca (Jewish District Ex Ghetto) can give a buzz or a vibe of how the city used to look like. Castros down Raday is great with a good Yugoslav Cuisine.Manager is Dutch Kiss Erkel also a nice small bar just off Raday on Erkel utca, shows impromtu movies/Manga goldern oldy Hungarian Commy stuff. Sometimes an old guy comes in to spin some Smooth Jazz or world music.
