Berlin Nightlife

OK..we were told by the young lady in the youth hostel that Berlin has two areas where young people go out. One was about 20 minute walk from the hostel and the other was a tram ride. So about 11.30 we had a wander to the first spot...oh dear oh dear... maybe we were really early, or it was the fact that it was a Wednesday.. but it was sooooooo quiet. Do Berlin people drink?

	Staatsoper: best tickets for Staatsoper

I looked online and compared ticket agencies with the site for the Staatsoper directly. I found that buying tickets on the Staatsoper site was the best price for a good ticket. There was no surcharge. You can click to get most of the information in English if you need that. Moreover, a very friendly staff assisted me easily with the purchase of a ticket through e-mails.

Note for Americans especially: Even with the sinking dollar, you ain't gonna see quality opera in the US for these prices, so take advantage and enjoy the treat!

Directions: Unter den Linden! (I have not been to Berlin yet, but I understand if you can't find Unter den Linden, then you really should not go to Berlin. It's in the Mitte District.) I just hope I spell it right.

	pub crawl: drinking

Berlin offers alot of different organizations for pub crawls, some are better then others. My buddy and I did a irish pub crawl which i highly recommend. It costs 10 euro but includes entry to 3 pubs, and two clubs; one underground club and the other is the hottest hip-hop club in the city. Also included with the 10 euro is unlimited vodka while walking club to pub, pub to club. The nice thing about that in Germany you are aloud to drink on the street. The last stop on the crawl is the hip hop club and thats the last stop so you can stay all night till close if you so choose too. the crawls start about 7 or 8 o'clock at night and i didnt get home till 5 am. It was one of the best nights ever. I love Berlin.

there is no dress code but i suggest to look nice because everyone at the clubs is looking to hookup with someone, so looking nice doesnt hurt.

get lots of sleep the night before, have a big dinner, don't even plan to go out until midnight...listen to the music emanating from the walls of the venue, enter, drink, dance, repeat...

It's monday nights in the heart of Berlin, when Dark Monday is celebrated at the infamous Duncker Bar, enchanting it's patrons and dancers with apocaliptic, avantgarde, gothic, and industrial music. A unique dark and mystifying building off dunckerstr. stained windows, cobbled floor, dungeon-like appeal. The front door doesn't open from the outside, you have to buzz in to get in. Enchanting friendly staff. Good DJ. Great absinthe served in the backroom, the traditional way. Yet only 2.5 Euro a glass. Entrance is only 1.5 Euro.
