Take a cruise to Braubach, where you may see the famous Marksburg, a castle that was not changed a lot since the middle ages, it is in fact one of the most impressive castles along the river Rhine - read more about it under my tips "off the beaten path"
the cruises start in Koblenz at Deutsches Eck:
at 10.15 + 11.00a.m. + 01.00 + 02.15 + 03.15p.m.
for the way back they start in Braubach at:
11.15 + 12.00a.m. + 02.00 + 03.20 + 04.30p.m.

catching the train from Koln

I caught an IC train from Koln. The journey took an hour and passed some nice scenery on the way and indeed Remagen looked worth a stop off on a future visit.

The train was vert smart and comfortable as was the jouney.

When you arrive at Koblenz outside the station is the tourist office and a bus station.

There is a bus service to/from the deutsches Eck.

KD Ferry

We used the KD Line ferries and the local trains to get around while we stayed on the Rhine.

The boat from Bacharach to Koblenz took around 3 hours, and it stopped at most smaller towns along the way.

The train from Koblenz back to Bacharach took about half an hour.

Our Eurail Ticket...after a
beating...

We took the train from Interlaken to Bacharach (via Basel and Freiburg). It took us around 6 hours to get there (but we stopped in Basel over night too).

From Bacharach we took the train to Hoorn (Holland) which took about 7 hours.

Koblenz is between Frankfurt and Cologne. So the best way is by plane and then by train.
You can go by train or bus from Koblenz to nearly everywhere. Citis like Amsterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg, Trier, Cologne etc. are not far away form Koblenz. Infos to trains unter http://www.bahn.de

Koblenz is easily accessible by all kinds of transport.
You can get there by car on Autobahns A3, A61, A48. The airports Frankfurt, Cologne and Hahn airports are all less then 100km away from Koblenz.
The most romantic way is the get there on the Rhine or Moselle.

We arrived by boat from Rudesheim which was a fantastic experience. On the boat we had commentary about all the castle's and little villages on the banks of the river Rhine and cost us 13 euro each to get to Koblenz. We boarded at 09h05 and arrived in Koblenz at 13h00

The best way to and from and also to get around, is by paddle steamer! Just cruise down the river to all the towns, like St Goar and Bacharach.

Don't forget to try the wine!
