Via the website if Divantoura, a Belgium travel agency from Gent, I booked an open jaw flight. So first from Brussels to Vienna and then a return flight from Prague to Brussels. The price was 200 euro (taxes included). As we were driving to Brussels national Airport, I had doubts about the departure time as the re was a thick fog over the Brussels region. But no problem at all, there was no delay. The flight time was only 1h35, a rather short flight. So there was only time for a small lunch box filled with cake and some candy. As we arrived in the Vienna Schwechat airport it was very busy, so maybe it was rush hour I the sky. Maybe that was the reason we needed to wait for about a half an hour before we got our luggage. I arrived and left Vienna by plane. Vienna's International airport is located in Schwechat; about 18 km southeast of Vienna. It is the main hub of Austrian Airlines, but also served by many other airlines. The best and cheapest way to get to town is by the suburban train S7 which is almost as quick as the overpriced City Airport Train (CAT). Please note that the Airport Station is located just outside the central public tranportation zone, therefore you need a ticket which covers two zones. Leave a Comment

I flew to Vienna with the wonderful Austrian Airlines. Great service (food/snacks have to be paid for) but tea and coffee are complimentary with a free chocolate wafer. I really enjoyed this flight as they show the plane's route on a screen above your seat so you know exactly where you are, the altitude, speed, temperature etc etc. at any given time. On the way out there I chatted to a very nice and helpful Austrian girl who told me about the CAT train (it actually sounded like the C80 train -so there was a little bit of confusion - but only for a minute :)) Leave a Comment

All international flights to Vienna go to Wien-Schwechat Flughafen. The airport is located outside the city, about 18km away. All major airlines service the airport. Not one American airline company flies to Vienna, but their partner companyies do. Transportation into the city is cheapest by the S7 Flughafen / Wolfsthal tram, which will end at Wien Mitte, a short U-Bahn ride to the center. Cost is 3 Euro The ride takes 30 minutes and leaves every 30 minutes from 5 to 21:30 Leave a Comment

VIE is linked to the world by many airlines (Austrian Airlines, Lauda Air, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, KLM, Iberia, SAS, ect.) and also offers good connections to Eastern Europe. And now a couple of low cost carriers connect Vienna to Germany (Air Berlin, Germanwings). Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane
