 | Bangkok BTS Skytrain Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 197 | | This modern open air subway net is definetly the best way to avoid the Bangkok traffic jams!! BUT it only goes by the modern (east) part of the city, so U might have to connect with buses or tuctuc or boats if you are going to the touristic old center. It's got (so far) 2 lines, which cross in Central Station (Siam). You can buy individual tickets or 1 day tickets. Prices depend on the distances, running from 10 to 40 bahts (1 USD= 40 Bahts). 1 day passes cost 100 Bahts. It is very convenient if you are staying at Sukhumvit Area (Nana Station). From there you can reach the river and take a boat directly to the center (Royal Palace and so). Leave a Comment

BTS Skytrain I would recommend 101% in getting arounfd town via BTS skytrain. Which is fast, safe and most reliable Mass Transit System in Bangkok! It offers an elavated mass transit railway system of the most convenience in getting around. With 23 stations, they are conveniently located along Sukhumvit and Silom lines which operate daily from 0600 to 2400 hrs. BTS Skytrains covers many areas such as the commercial as well as the residential. One Day Pass and 3-Day Tourists Pass make exploring Bangkok easy and economical. Like what they say on their publicity materials, the BTS SkyTrain is by far the easiest, fastest and most convenient way to travel, making Bangkok exploration simple and fun. Apart from covering the central city, including shopping centers and entertainment spots, BTS also offers access to the Chao Praya River through Saphan Taksin station, enabling one to travel by boat to Bangkok's most famous historical places, such as the Royal Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha Temple, and the Temple of Dawn. Various types of tickets are available and as of June 2004, they are as follow: 1. 1-Day Pass: Unlimited rides in 1 day at 100 Baht. 2. 3-Day Pass: Unlimited rides for 3 days 4 nights at 280 Baht. 3. Sky Card: Stored Value ticket available for 200 Baht (includes 30 Baht deposit) refillable with minimum of 100 Baht. 4. 30-Day Pass: This ticket can be purchased in 10, 15 or 30 trip denominations and includes both Student and Adult Passes. 5. Single-Journey Ticket: Single Journey Ticket contains a one-trip travel value selected by passengers with fare according to destination. Some of the interesting places are connected directly by skybridges as follow: 1. E9: On Nut Station - Tesco Lotus (Hypermarket) 2. E5 Phrom Phong Station - The Emporium (Upmarket Shopping Mall) 3. E1 Chitlom Station - Maneeya Center, Gaysorn Plaza, Amarin Plaza, Central World Plaza (All Upmarket Shopping Malls) 4. CEN Siam Station - Siam Center (Shopping Mall) 5. W1 National Stadium Station - MBK Center, Tokyu Deparment Store, Siam Discovery Center (All Shopping Malls) 6. S2 Sala Daeng Station - Silom Complex (Shopping Mall) 7. N1 Ratchathewi Station - Asia Hotel (Hotel) 8. E2 Phloen Chit Station - Wave Place Centre (Houses Home Pro DIY Megastore) Note: Most of the information above were directly taken off from the complimentary BTS SkyTrain Travel Guide provided to me during my trip when I purchased a 3-Day Pass. As far as I know, this Travel Guide was only provided for a limited period of time and is now no longer provided. Leave a Comment

If you are gonna make more than 3 rides with the BTS, this 1 day ticket might be convienient for you. It costs 100 Bahts (40 Bahts = 1 USD) and lets you unlimited travel in BTS for 24 hours. Is easy to use, just pass by the entrance machines, you don't have to wait ticket queues at every ride. You can buy them at any BTS station. Leave a Comment

BTS sky train: The Bangkok transit system (BTS) is comprised of 2 lines: the Sukhumvit line and the Silom line. You must change trains at central station when going from Sukhumvit to Silom. Service daily from 6am to midnight. The fare is 10-40 bath for the routes. Leave a Comment

Bangkok’s BTS Skytrain is a fast, efficient and comfortable way to make your way around the city and to avoid the busy, traffic-plagued streets below! At the time of my visit in September 2007, there were two Skytrain lines: The Silom line: 7 stops, connecting Saphan Taksin with National Stadium, with en-route stops including Sala Daeng (Silom) and Siam. The Sukhumvit line: 16 stops, connecting Mo Chit with On Nut, with en-route stops including Asoke (Sukhumvit) and Siam. The two Skytrain lines connect with each other at Siam. The Skytrain connects with the MRTA subway at the following stops: Sala Daeng (connects with Silom subway) Asoke (connects with Sukhumvit subway) Mo Chit (connects with Chatuchak Park subway) Most of my journeys on the Skytrain were between Sala Daeng, National Stadium and Asoke, frequently needing to change from one line to the other at Siam. The fares and times of my most common journeys were: Sala Daeng – National Stadium = 20 Bahts (5-10 minutes) National Stadium – Asoke = 25 Bahts (10-15 minutes, change of trains at Siam) I studied a grid of fares at Asoke station and noted that the highest fare for an individual journey on the Skytrain was 40 Bahts. Tickets are purchased from machines at the stations. Unlike the MRTA subway ticket machines, many machines for Skytrain tickets only accept coins, not notes. I had to change a note for coins at the information desk. From the ticket machine, select the zone that your destination station is in and it’ll calculate the correct fare. You’ll receive a small cardboard ticket, about the size of a credit card, which must be inserted into the turnstile slot to access the platforms. At the end of your journey, you again insert the card into a turnstile to exit the platform, but this time it is not returned to you. Trains run from early morning to late at night, are frequently very busy and (thankfully!) are air conditioned. Upcoming stops are announced in Thai and English. Leave a Comment

Sala Daeng is the nearest station to Pat Pong. Visiting Pat Pong should not be missed for this is the sin city of Bangkok and souvenir shops too. Be ready for the "CALCULATOR" of the sellers in this place for they rather use calculator in giving the price rather than telling it to you directly....ready for computation???
