 | Bangkok Seafood Market and Restaurant Reviews | 11 - 20 of 20 | | I can suggest a couple other options for dinner. Check out www.fishermanseafoodmarket.com located near the river so it's not far away from the sunset cruise. Not a bad place, good food and good prices, I think within your budget. Also I may suggest that you check out China Town located again, close to the river, only a few blocks away on Yaowarat rd. Lots of Chinese restaurants with a wide variety of food choices and they would definitly be within your budget range and have great food. You may have to scout a bit during the conference and set it up but it would be easy and most establishments would be more than willing to accomodate you and almost any number of people. I would suggest going there at night to scout. Then you can see which restaurants and frequented by the locals and busiest. I doubt there are any web sites to contact ahead of time. Also, depending on where you are staying, they may be able to help you with suggestions in China Town or any other place. Good luck!

Really fresh sea food! you can choose your own fish on a huge variety ( prawns , lobster, snapper , oysters ecc ecc ) and the way to cook it express for you. there is also a good sushi maker with very nice tempura and shushi and sashimi! you pay for the fish and for the cooking separately depending how you want it to be cooked.

Maybe not unique, but close to it. Like a supermarket for fish eating. You choose your food from what's on display at the counters, tell them how you want it cooked, and then go away and wait. Its always good, and always fresh, and you always order too much! Highly recommended.

The restaurant is spacious. Has a good ambience and range of seafood. Price is reasonable, and the cooking is not that bad!

Soi 24 seafood is really impressive, with a huge selection of seafood. All seafood is alive and you carry a cart to shop for the seafood you like. The seafood range in the resturant is really a lot. Then you can choose the cooking style. The resturant is very popular with tourists. One thing is that the restaurant is quite expensive. A big prawn cost about 600baht and a big crab cost 1200baht. The cooking fee came up to 800 baht. Overall, we spent about 4000baht in the restaurant. Expensive, but to tell you the truth, it is the best meal I ever eaten. Qin Qin and I have very good memory about this place.
The fish. It is very nice. Very fresh.

I was was curious about this place when I saw the sign and I eventually went and checked it out with my wife. An unique experience, that's for sure. Basically you walk in and you are led to a table. From there, you place your drinks order and then you are assigned a 'personal shopper', with whom you wander around and select your dinner from all the fish in the deli at the back of the restaurant. I got a bit carried away here but the choice was amazing. I think I ended up getting about twenty oysters, not to mention prawns and lobster. Anyway, once you have picked out your seafood, you pay for it at the cash register and then it's back to the table, where the chef marches out and asks you how you would like each dish prepared. The chef thought we were a party of five and was awfully embarrassed when I said there were only two of us.
The food was great and if I could recommend anything, it would have to be the tiger prawns in chilli sauce. This restaurant is a bit expensive for Bangkok (if you have a big appetite) but it's the kind of thing you should do once. It is huge ,i counted almost 400 tables ,i think.Good and attentive services.First you go to the supermarket counter running the length of the restaurant to select your purchases from seafood, vegetables, deserts right down to fruits& wines/liquor.You can choose to have a guided escort or do it yrself with a suppermarket trolley.I remember they have a restaurant in Spore in the nineties, but it was closed subsequently After paying for the purchases ,u cart your food to your table and the captain will check how u want yr seafood cooked..grill,fried steam, curried or tom yam. There is a service charge for the cooking.I noticed that they also charge for cutting the fruits.....not much 10Baht ...though i feel this should be waived and treated as a customer service. Due to the enormous scale of the restaurant ,i supposed the food could not be fresher.
The curry crab is simply aromatic and delicious. The tom yam soup cooked with giant fresh water prawns (abt 8 inches to a foot in length) as the roe fused with the soup to give it a rich texture. The giant prawns are superb BBQ,out of this world ,however the price is the same as the Lobsters Theme: SeafoodPrice: US$31-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 89 Sukhumvit Soi 24Phone: 02 661-1255-9Directions: Phrom Phong Skytrain stop look for the emporium. Then exit on the main road and look for the side street..soi 24.Walk right up to the end about 10mins.You will not missed the giant neon sign of a lobster.Website: http://www.seafood.co.th/

It was a great tourist experience. Yes, this restaurant is much more expensive than other local restaurants but this is what you remember 10 years later as part of your Bangkok experience. First you buy food and wine. They have a variety of local fish, lobster, crayfish, shrimp, clams, mussels, crabs, fruits and veggies. They also have fine French and Australian wines. They have a Japanese selection as well -- sushi, sashimi, tampura, etc. After you pay, you take a table. Waiter will ask you how you like them cooked, or you can consult a chef. We ordered a lot of grilled shrimp, tom-yum with assorted seafood, garlic morning glory, deep fried fish, etc. It cost about US$400 for a group of 8 of us, including wine and tips. It was a lot of great food. I wouldn't say I would go there every time I go to Bangkok, but if you have not been there, you owe it to yourself to give it a visit.

I knew it would be expensive but not THAT much!! It cost more than 1500B per person for: 4 fresh oysters, grilled snapper, fried morning glory, 2 grilled tiger prawns and yellow curry crab, which would probably cost 1000B in total for all if we had it in a seafood restaurant like Somboom and probably more delicious and fresh since all the seafood in this Seafood Market are freezed on ice and basically all dead. You won't be able to find fresh fishes straight from the tank there. This place is definitely overrated even though it was fun experience for 15 minutes to do the shopping. I wouldn't go again.
I like the fresh oysters, it's sumptuous and exotic dipping in lime chili sauce with a bit of Thai herb. Both grilled snapper and the tiger prawns were blend. The yellow curry crab sauce was nice. Leave a Comment
