Green Island is the only coral cay in the Great Barrier Reef with a rainforest growing on it! Mossman Gorge is a lovely part of the Daintree National Park. To me, its appeal lies in the crystal clear water that runs over large boulders through the river gorge. Just a short walk from the car park and you will come across a swimming hole, surrounded by rounded boulders and filled with photo opportunities.....and people who aren't put off by the icy water! If you go there in July-September, during the rainy season, don't forget a little umbrella for the frequent rains. It doesn't rain daily, and when it rains it is normally 2-3 hours in the afternoon (at least in august when I was there). The temperature is not cold when it rains, so I found the pocket anorak I used a bit uncomfortable, as you sweat a lot with it, so U get wet anyway... [read more] |
