We snagged a room at the Soho Grand via Priceline. Since I read about it when it opened several years ago, I've always wanted to stay here. The Soho Grand is a 4* hotel and it shows as soon as you arrive via taxi. The doorman will open the car door and help grab you bags from the trunk. And they are very personable...not stuffy or snotty at all. In fact all the staff we encountered were very friendly and accomodating. I thought we might get the cold shoulder upon checking in because we had booked through Priceline but not so. Overall the service was good and was there when you needed it, but they aren't hovering by any means.
The interior has a very modern style without being completely minimalist. Beautiful people rule in the Grand Lounge and Bar. No restaurant in the hotel but they do serve food in the lounge. There is also a large bowl of apples each morning in the lobby near the elevators. Our room was small but not a closet. We had a nice east-facing view which featured the Soho and Chinatown skyline. The room was very clean and included a TV, safe, audio system (with hookup available for your iPod), writing table, wardrobe and chair in addition to the bed. Lighting was adequate and the bedding was nice. Great towels and toiletries as well.
The locaiotn can't be beat as it's on the SW corner of Soho, home to many shops, restaurants, and galleries. It's also just north of Tribeca and a bit east of Greenwich Village and west of Chinatown. Access to the rest of Manhattan is attainable via the nearby Canal Street subway station. You can always catch a taxi at the front entrance as well. We definitely llked the style, service, and location of this hotel and would gladly stay again!
Modern style, great location in Soho (not many hotels in this fashionable/trendy neighborhood), excellent service, complimentary coffee/hot chocolate machine on each floor next to the ice machine. I've never stayed in hotels/hostels in New York, but when my dad comes to visit he stays at the SoHo Grand. It's a little pricey, but the people there are nice and very helpful, and the rooms generally have a great view of the city. They also have a great bar in their lobby, that's fun whether you stay at the hotel or not! Leave a Comment

On a week long trip to NYC, I checked into the Soho Grand for the weekend. The location of the Hotel could not be more ideal. It's located in the ultra hip Soho area, and is walking distance to many great restaurants, art galleries, and the shopping selection is phenomenal. The cost of the room was very expensive, though the view was great, as well as the ammenities. We were greeted with a glass of champagne as we checked in, and the ammenities in the room were a definite perk: flatscreen TV, bedding, toiletries, IPOD hookup, a selection of CD's, and the overall cozy and plush feel.
We were also very impressed by the service of the bellmen, who were always welcoming when returning to the hotel, and were always available to get us a cab when we were leaving the hotel.
If your willing to shell out a generous amount of money, the Soho Grand is a great choice.
The Grand Lounge and Bar is a great hangout, even just for people watching. We had drinks here on a few occasions during our stay, and killed time while waiting for our delayed flight, as the unique, cozy and ultra chic feel make it more than welcoming and comfortable. The drink list is VERY unique, I had a Spa type martini that was out of this world. Even if your just visiting the hotel, paying a visit to the Grand Lounge and Bar is a must.

Getting to this hotel from the NJ Turnpike is very easy. I hate driving in NYC, but it was just a few turns off the Holland Tunnel and we were there. Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant on our arrival, and even though most hotels don't let you check in until 3 or 4pm, our room was ready when we arrived just before 1pm and we were allowed to check in.
The prices are decent compared to other NYC hotels, and if you're going to book a room here, go online first and join Grand Guests. You will save at least 10% off the lowest internet rate just for doing this, and they also have special offers and packages for Grand Guests that could save you even more.
Because I signed up for Grand Guest, I was treated as a repeat customer, which meant that I was given a free continental breakfast (with bread from my favorite NYC bread shop, Le Pain Quotidien), with juice and coffee for both myself and my husband.
The design inside of the hotel is very industrial and funky. The rooms themselves are kind of plain, but well decorated with unique furniture and white and chocolate linens. The pillows are dense feather pillows that are cool and comfortable. Each room has a flat-screen TV and a Bose system, with CDs in the room for you to use during your stay. they also have an in-room safe, and a DVD player.
One of most unique things about this hotel (and its sister hotel, the Tribeca Grand) is that they will give you a goldfish to keep with you in your room while you are there. They also allow pets and will bring doggie necessities, or even a litter box for your cat. They even have stuff on the room service menu for your pets.

If you've got the money to spare for a swanky city retreat at the artsy upscale Soho Grand Hotel, by all means book yourself a room and enjoy your stay! This place has style, with a hip edge, attracting an increasingly famous clientele. While not huge, the rooms are comfortable and elegant. Plus, the views of the city are phenomenal, especially if you are able to reserve a corner room. The Soho Grand is also within easy walking distance to the Lower East Side, the Village, and, of course, ultra-hip gallery-speckled Soho.
