Mirage Resort & Casino: Magnificent Mirage    Check Rates

  • Built in 1989 by Las Vegas hotel impresario Steve Wynn The Mirage may now have been eclipsed by other more luxurious resorts such as the Bellagio, Venetian and Mandalay Bay but in terms of ambience, comfort and service it more than holds its own against recent competitors.
The location of the hotel, on the centre part of The Strip is ideal. For romantics it is a short stroll to the gondolas of The Venetian, for retail therapists the Forum shops at Caesar’s are almost next-door. However, those are outside the hotel and, before you venture further afield, there is plenty within the hotel to keep you pleasantly distracted for quite a time. There are a number of restaurants and bars, a small shopping arcade, a miniature Palm House in the atrium, an aquarium behind the front desk, a spa and fitness centre, a wonderful pool, a Dolphin Habitat, Secret Garden, theatre, Volcano (yes, that’s right, a volcano!) – and that is before you even consider the casino! Phew! Orientating yourself with what is in the hotel – and finding your way to whichever of the 3,323 rooms you are staying in - may take some time.
The general theme of the hotel is Polynesian, though this is presented in quite a subtle way. The lobby is decorated in marble and wood with beautiful light fittings in a flower and leaf design. The atrium, closed over by a glass dome, is full of tropical palm tress, flowers and a waterfall! There is even a smell of vanilla in the air.

The room we stayed in was smallish but very nice and quietly decorated in shades of reddish brown. There was a larger wardrobe/dresser facing the bed and this also included room for the TV, safe, and mini-bar. By the window was a small seating area with a table and chairs, the bed –a king-size - was eminently comfortable and a great place to rest and stretch out your aching legs! The bathroom was great – two sinks, a separate shower stall and a whirlpool bath – luxury. We were very lucky to have an upgrade to a 24-floor room with a view of the volcano, strip and the mountains in the distance. If you can get a strip view go for it, however, even without that the rooms provide a pleasant space to relax and reload your senses before heading of to the delights of Vegas.
Service was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient and that applied to everyone we saw and had dealings with from the front desk clerks to the housekeeping staff, waitresses and casino security.
The Mirage is not a cheap place to stay but I would say that you get good value for money in terms of service and amenities and also an experience that, like the rest of Vegas, will provide enjoyable memories for a long time to come.

  • The Mirage and Treasure Island have the same owner. These two hotels are next to each other and connected by a tram.

I didn't stay at the Mirage, but spent some time touring the rain forest in the lobby, visiting the white tigers, eating at the buffet, drinking at the lounge and watching the volcano erupt, so I got to see a good deal of the hotel's amenities. I also probably lost some quarters in the machines in the casino.

The erupting volcano, the white tigers and Seigfried and Roy's Secret Garden.

  • 15 years ago, the Mirage was THE place to stay in Las Vegas. It was one of the first really different hotels that signaled the change in Las Vegas (this is in my opinion, as I am sure someone else will say another hotel was the first). Nevertheless...

Its location on the strip is great!

Most of the big name hotels in Las Vegas all give the same sort of service- the rooms are nice and clean, but unless you are staying in a really, really high end place... don't expect the service to be outstanding. Don't get me wrong... service will be good, but nothing special.

The Mirage is like a tropical rainforest inside, and this is a nice way to be greeted as you come in from the heat (assuming you are there during the 6 really hot months of the year. You can spend quite a lot of time wandering around the hotel and casion. Check out the tigers.

  • My father and step-mother are semi high rollers at the Mirage so they get a lot of comps, including suites. I wish they had had all this when I was younger, but when I do get the chance to go with them nowadays, it's still a lot of fun 'cause you're treated like a king.

Overall, the Mirage is a nice place to go. The staff is courteous. The atmosphere is relaxed. There are more mature people in there, so it's not loud and obnoxious.

If you're lucky enough to get into a suite, the world is your oyster. Views are spectacular. Service is great. Heck, the suites are probably bigger than my apartment!

The pool is also a nice spot. It's big. There is a waterfall and a waterslide. There's also a nice restaurant on the premises.

However, if you can swing a cabana, your stay will improve drastically. You can order food and drink in the relative pricacy of your cabana. There's a plasma TV inside and plush furniture... not your typical lounge chairs. Order the Coconut Shrimp and the Empanadas! The Sauce for the Empanadas is to die for.

If you'd like, you can check out the Dolphins. They're cool. But it costs money. The famed White Tigers are encased in a free-to-view area. Poor guys.

Mirage Resort & Casino: Beware of white tigers    Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Mirage hotels theme is the jungle because its main attraction is the show with Siegfried and Roy and their white tigers. At the moment the show is canceled due to an accident on stage, but you can watch the tigers in a luxury cage.

Inside the huge hall you find jungle atmosphere with palm trees, waterfalls and rattan-style cafeterias.

In a huge pool in front of the hotel there's a volcano which erupts several times per hour every night.

  • No need to worry about this: all these fancy Las Vegas hotels, like everything else in this town, are very cheap. They may look like they cost hundreds of dollars, but booking a few weeks early is enough to get a rate from $30 to under $100 in any of them.

Mirage Resort & Casino: Nice Hotel with a Tropical Feel    Check Rates

  • Check in at the Mirage was quick, the staff really know their stuff and do it with effeciency. Rooms were nice and clean.
The Mirage has a tropical theme going on.
Tons of plants around the hotel, waterfalls outside, nice landscaping.

The Mirage has one of the best pools of most of the Vegas hotels. Get their early to get a place to lay out. Drinks are a little pricey, but hey, you can keep the cup! The pool is a good size with a fairly large waterfall you can swim under. There are also private cabana's you can rent by the hour or day and in the cabana's they have mister's that mist water on you all day to keep you cool.
Across the street from the Mirage is an array of restaurants if you don't want to pay the exhorbant prices the hotels usually charge in their restaurants. Across the street are restaurants like Outback Steakhouse and Denny's. There are also several smaller restaurants in the smaller casino's across the street.

  • We were very happy with our stay at the Mirage. Beautiful grounds and lobby area, large rooms, and helpful staff. In addition to the numerous gambling choices, you can lounge at the pool; shop; check out the white tigers and dolphins, as well as the nightly volcano show in front of the hotel.

The only negative comment would be about the pool. It is beautiful, but not always easy to track down a lounge chair.

    Beautiful pool area!
