Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino: A Beach in the Desert??    Check Rates

  • I didn't stay at Mandalay Bay but I would have if I had had children with me or if I liked the beach. At the time they had a wave pool and a lazy river (although their new website doesn't show that). I love that sort of thing so I wanted to stay there but the people I went with did not so....

I toured the hotel. Well, not all of it, but some of it. It's the last hotel on the strip so my feet were tired. I saw some fish aquariums and the casino but that was about it. I know they have a lot more to offer than that. They have shows, the new man-made beach, casinos, restaurants and more.

Again, prices vary so just look at rates and deals that the newspaper has or online.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you didn't want to wander all over the strip and if you wanted to spend your time lazing around water.

If you bring children I would definitely stay here!

  • I highly recommend staying at Mandalay Bay. This was my first stay there and I was very impressed with the service and the room. The hotel is beautiful and there is quite a few pools there, including a sand beach and wave pool in the summer. The restaurants are very top notch and the two clubs House of Blues and Rum Jungle are very fun for the night life. A very fun place to stay.... Look for deals on the room rates. We got a great package with Southwest airlines w/ 2nights here and the price was very affordable. Southwest sucks but the hotel was worth it.

The sand beach and wave pool are definitely neat.. probably a lot neater in the summer ( since we went in Dec.. they were not open). Service was very good. I left my coat in the room closet and they were wonderful about shipping it back to me a week later.

A great looking hotel and some very high end services. It is a great place if it is your first stay. We have been 3 times now and the shine is definitely wearing thin. They have not done much in the way of renovation since our fisrt visit here, so looked stale to us. For someone who is visiting for the first time, it should still impress.

Check out the wave pool and House of Blues. Mama Mia is playing here as well. Connected to the Luxor and Excalibar by a tram service, which is free to use. There is also a covered walkway that is full of shops that connects the 3 hotels. There is a shark tank in the far reaches of the property. It has a walkway through the tank similar to the one at the ocean center in Maui. If you dont want to pay the fee to get into the talk, it plays on the hotel television.

  • I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is far from 1st class and should not have the 4 stars it does. Our experience started with no bell/porter service walking in.... the rooms are jankey with ugly decor (bedding and curtains) and worn out carpet. No mini-bar & room service takes 1 plus hours to get there. The once white towels are now grey and they are still using them. The pools are so crowded people are lying on top of each other (get your mind out of the gutter) and the water....uggg... well just think of it after hundreds of sweaty people have jumped in..... gross to smell.... just gross. The service was consistently slow and employees so crabby, they seem just mean, everyone too.... like they were just done with people, from the clerk at the gift shop, to the waitress at our over priced breakfast to the clerk who checked us out... all in a perpetually bad mood. We stayed in a deluxe room and had adjoining rooms to a suite with friends. The suite had a mini-bar but the same ugly towels and ugly service. And we paid how much to stay here and be treated like this? and why?

Do not ask for anything outside the slam blam way everyone gets it, cuz it won't happen... You want your eggs how? well your getting them the way the cook makes them or not at all....next......This was characteristic of all 4 restaurants we tried at Mandalay Bay, from the $143 breakfast for 2 at the red wite and blue cafe, to the buffet, to the house of blues and again at the bistro cafe... and all were at least 2 hour meals due to the wait (at the table, not getting in) and we were practically by ourselves at the house of blues......

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino: An Oasis on the Strip: Mandalay Bay    Check Rates

  • Mandalay Bay is an elegant resort located at the far south end of the Strip. It is considered one of the better hotels in Las Vegas and its pool is always mentioned as being the best in town. While it's location can sometimes make you feel a little far away from the rest of the Strip, there are really no other downsides to staying at Mandalay Bay.

The rooms at Mandalay Bay are large and decorated in an upscale, tropical motif. The bathrooms are enormous and feature separate bathtubs and showers.

The resort has a number of shops and restaurants in addition to the large gaming space. Border Grill features excellent Mexican food and House of Blues serves their famous Gospel Brunch every Sunday.

You can see concerts at House of Blues or at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Room service is reasonably priced (less expensive than the restaurants, I thought!) and arrives quickly.

One of the most unique and memorable parts of Mandalay Bay is the great pool area. There are actually 4 or 5 different pool areas, all linked together. The largest is the Beach-- a huge pool/wave pool that is surrounded by real sand. There is also a lazy river, where you can float along on a mat (cost: $15). There are two smaller pool areas (that tend to have more shade for hot days) and a private, adults-only pool called Moorea. Moorea is very hip and trendy.. it's filled with young, beautiful people and costs $10 for ladies and $30 for men (and bikini tops are optional here).

The pools open at 8:30am and you'll need to stake out a place around that time. Moorea's lounge chairs get snapped up instantly, and the Beach is nearly as popular.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino: Mandalay Bay is a Classy Resort    Check Rates

  • Fortunately for me, my hotel accommodation didn't cost me anything, because this was a business trip. But, I believe that the Mandalay Bay is one of the classier hotels on the strip. It is located at the south end of the strip (about 3/4 mile from the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign). The lobby was gorgeous with a large aquarium, lush foliage, and lots of light streaming through many windows and skylights.

My room was comfortable, with a large bathtub that I immediately used for a bubble bath upon my arrival from the airport. The rooms also have Internet access for a daily fee, which I used every day with my laptop. I had a little technical difficulty, but the IT center sent a technician to my room within minutes of my phone call requesting for help connecting.

Considering this is not among the newer hotels like the Venetian or Paris, it is still a lovely resort and quite comfortable.

The pools are amazing, possibly the best on the strip. They have a lazy river (tubes available for rental), a wave pool, and a regular pool. We relaxed by the wave pool, in chaise lounges on the man-made beach. A cheerful waitress served us tasty frozen drinks all afternoon!
