| | | | |
This hotel has so much inside -- like most hotels in Vegas, I suppose. Tons of stores and restaurants around the casino. Lots to do! The Shark Reef is also very cool and different. You could probably decie to not leave the hotel at all during your stay and still be entertained and have lots to do! The rooms themselves are average-sized. They're nice, but it's obvious the hotel gets the four-star rating from the hotel itself and not the room. For the price and star rating, I'd prefer/expect the rooms to be better, but it's fine and pretty nice. If you're visiting Vegas for a concert at the Mandalay Bay, like I did when I stayed here, there are pros/and cons: the pro is of course that the venue is a small walk from your hotel room! No need to deal with trying to get to the hotel (along with 10,000+ other people) from elsewhere on the strip and Vegas. The con, however, is that they obviously overcharge the room by ridiculous amounts! (Though pretty much everywhere else in Vegas ups its prices as well -- so be warned when going to Vegas for a concert!) This is pretty much the southernmost hotel of the strip. The location isn't the very best one, as more Strip action happens toward the middle of the Strip, but it's pretty close to MGM and with the monorail stopping there now (and the walks not being too long), it's okay. Being the southermost, that also means that it's the closest to the airport, which is convenient. Don't worry about noise from the airport -- we didn't hear any. It's a nice hotel and resort, but I think you can do better on the strip for pretty much the same price. However: I didn't use it, but I did hear that the pools at Mandalay Bay are the very best in Vegas, so if that's a big part of the trip for you, you'll probably like this hotel a lot!
(One side note: I noticed that their birds in the main lobby seem to be taken care of pretty badly and are quite neglected. It was heart-breaking seeing their condition, both mental and physical. Putting pressure on them via emails online at their site now or contacting the manager or someone similar while there would probably help the quality of life of all these parrots, so if have a minute, I'm sure the parrots would appreciate it as they really do deserve better lives and Mandalay sure has the money and ability to provide them with this.) Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino
The outside beach area is amazing, plenty of room for everyone, and only guests are permitted in this area, with an ID check. The casino is phenomenal as well, plenty of tables for all types of gamblers. Last visit we stayed at the Mandolay Bay Resort which is currently undergoing expansion. It was very expensive but had everything anyone could want in a resort and the rooms were very large and lavish. Besides the wave pool (my favorite)there were also 2 other pools, hot tubs and inner tube ride and shark reef exhibit. Inside were 17 theme restaurants, shopping, 6 lounges, spa and gymnasium.
The wave pool had more good-looking lifeguards than Baywatch! Leave a Comment Theme: HotelComparison: most expensiveDirections: It's at the very end of the new part of the Strip, very close to the airport.
