I really like Mandalay Bay. So much so, I recently got married there. The chapel is great and they did a wonderful job from flowers to photos. However, since you are probably aren't here for that info. (and if you are...try www.theknot.com to find out about all the places to be married in the USA) on to the rooms.
Mandalay Bay put us up in the "honeymoon suite". It wasn't all that. The view was terrible. We basically could only see roof. To make matters worse, the couch in this suite was DISGUSTING. It had so many stains on it, I couldn't count them. i am not exaggerating, people. If you had this in your house, you would cut your losses and set it out on the curb for bums to sleep on. (Or...maybe that is where they got it.)
So, I called the front desk and they said, "All our honeymoon suites have crap views. It is how the hotel is designed." Um, okay that is lame. They let me switch rooms though due to the offending couch. The room was larger than the standard room and it had a wet bar. That is the only thing I could notice to differentiate it from a regular room at the 'Bay.
I think the rooms could use some jazzing up at the price they are charging for them and considering they aren't exactly centrally located on the strip. I will probably stay somewhere else next time I go to Vegas. If money is no object, I really like Venetian and am anxious to check out the Wynn.
The pool is area is very cool. There are several pools including a wave pool (but not your water park-type. The waves are much too tame. You can't even do any serious kid-bowling in there and they won't let you take in intertubes.)
The shark reef is very cool if you dig aquariums.
