Flamingo Las Vegas: See the Garden    Check Rates
I never actually stayed at this hotel. I have visited it a few time and attended a conference here.

The garden is wonderful with the penguins and flamingos.

  • I stayed there for a conference in March, 2004. Although this is one of the older hotels on the strip, they have sunk some money into the hotel. Some of the rooms have been renovated nicely - make sure to ask for one of those. The conference center also looks newly renovated and is huge!

The casino and restaurants are just average. I only grabbed a couple of quick bites from Lindy's coffeeshop when I didn't have time to go anywhere else.

Make sure to check out the pool area.

  • Our room was very nice. This hotel is in the "heart of the strip" directly across fro Ceasar's and on the other corner is Bellagio. We felt this this was an excellent value. the hotel is very nice with a beautiful courtyard . The breakfast buffett was wonderful. We were seated right near a window which looked out on the gardens. This hotel was great

Flamingo Las Vegas: Why not stay in the first ever Vegas Casino?    Check Rates
  • Satisfaction:
  • If your going to be in Vegas the Flamingo is an excellent place to stay. It's the origional casino that started it all. It's prices are cheaper than many of the newer casino's and it's dead in the middle of the strip.

The Flamingo has an awesome pool and nature area in the back of the casino. Make sure to check it out on your next stay.

  • This place is right across from Caesars, so I did end up in its casino a few times... it seemed very nice and the show venue seemed nice as well. A very large casino and rooms that are affordable, and a great location, make this a great place to stay while in Vegas!

I enjoyed drinking at Margaritaville on the Flamigo property. this is the first time I have been to a Margaritaville not on an island somewhere, but I was wasting away just as if I was in Jamaica!

Flamingo Las Vegas: Everything's Pink    Check Rates

  • Adam & I took our parents to Vegas for our renewal of vows ceremony. My brother and his wife were staying at the Hilton Grand Vacations at the Flamingo (the timeshare behind the Flamingo hotel) and we thought we'd stay close to them. It's center strip and on the monorail. I reserved the rooms at the Flamingo with some trepidation. It seems like such an old hotel and some of its reviews weren't great. The kid that checked us in at the front desk was none too friendly. Our flight was delayed and we didn't land until 10:00 at night, so by the time we got our luggage and a taxi it was getting late. And they only had smoking rooms available. He said he could switch our rooms the next day.

I was pleasantly surprised. It didn't smell like a smoking room, and my mom, who has terrible allergies, was able to sleep. We didn't end up changing rooms. Mom's room, and my in-laws room were both huge with views of the pool. Adam and I had a smaller room but with a fantastic view of the strip. It looked out over Caesar's Palace and we could also see the Bellagio Fountain Show on one side and the Mirage on the other.

The location was excellent and we had a blast at the huge swimming area. Lots of pools and waterfalls and slides. The wildlife habitat was beautiful and we felt like we were in a beautiful resort the whole time.

Flamingo Las Vegas: Fun and Reasonable    Check Rates
  • Satisfaction:
  • On my first trip to Vegas I wanted to stay in a hotel that was reasonable and located in a good spot. Now, there are a lot fancier places on the Strip and cheaper places as well, but in terms of value, the Flamingo was perfect to me...relatively inexpensive...but comfortable, in the heart of things and frankly, a lot of fun. The Flamingo has a reputation as one of the original "strip" casinos. Its the casino that was managed by gangster Bugsy Siegel, in which he famously dreamed that Las Vegas could be something more than a regional stop over in the desert, but a desirable resort for the international traveler. The hotel that stands there is not the original building....but an updated facility. Nor does it continue to be run by mobsters but has passed into the hands of legitimate companies long ago and is recently run by the Harrah's Entertainment Group.

The hotel design evokes the 1950's America of drive ins and malt shops. Everything is pink, gold and chrome. The building itself is actually a couple of connected structures surrounding a large inner plaza of palm trees, tropical bird attractions, outdoor bars and a numerous interlocked swimming pools resembling lagoons. The hotel also has a large casino area, a theater which features live performers, shops, restaurants, and the Jimmy Buffet's theme restuarant, Magaritaville.

My room was a generic deluxe, spotless and new. My dealings with the hotel staff, which included the valet services and security (when I missplaced my ATM card) was extremely positive...they were very professional. My room had a full length window overlooking the inner courtyard where I could see all the action at the pool.

When I stayed here the place had a youngish "spring break" feel to it compared to the other hotels I visited. The place was full of girls in bikini tops and guys with their baseball caps turned backwards. Every day in the late afternoon they throw a rockin pool party with a live DJ, frozen drinks and a lot of fun. Now, I am an old dude (40 years old) and I liked the spirit of the place, living on the frozen magaritas that they pumped out of the bar which was located next to the elevator bank which took me to my room. The Jimmy Buffet's theme restuarant is worth checking out too. They serve very good Caribbean influenced food and another plethora of frozen drinks. The funky interior evokes the laid back essence of Buffet's music. They do live music there too. I recieved a recorded message on my room's voicemail from the Flamingo's president telling me to come hang out that night at Buffet's place where his friend the classic rock musician Nils Lofgren was putting on a cover free show. Nice touch.
