| | | | |
There is something just perfectly cheesy and classy about a mirror on a ceiling that seems to shout, "Las Vegas". My room, though in need of a redecoration, was quaint in a slightly Polyneisian way. The mirror on the ceiling seemed to fit in, and clash with the decoration scheme at the same time. It was quiet and comfortable, though, and I liked it. The hike to my room seemed on par with any other of the rooms I have had in the large hotels. I don't like those hikes, but I think they are to be expected in Las Vegas. As far as the service, I can't complain. The service staff was friendly and efficient and did what they could to make my stay enjoyable.
What a great deal! I loved my stay in this old bird. First, the price was right. One of the lower prices right on the strip, with all the conveniences that I wanted. This shining example of how to preserve the old Vegas style and still provide what the current visitor needs can be a lesson to several of the older hotels. Let me start with its location. On a corner that shares a walkway with the MGM Grand, as well as a walkway to the Excalibur, this is a great starting point for the hike up and down the strip. Several of the most modern and popular hotels are right near, the Luxor and New York, New York, to name two. Though even the most enthusiastic would probably not want to walk the whole strip, it is a great starting point with the bus stops and shuttle nearby. The pool was fun. Its designer seemed to had made an attempt to make it look like it was on a lovely tropical island. The pool had a few little cozy spots where one could hide out and watch the tanned bodies go by. Close to the pool was my favorite spot, the spa. For just a few dollars a day, I bought a pass to sit in the sauna and let the stress of the strip melt away. Turn around and go to the other end.

 | | | | Flamingo Las Vegas: Great Place to Stay in a Central Location
| | | | |
We stayed at the Flamingo for a week. It was very centrally located on the Strip which was our main selling point on staying here. Plus it has LOVELY grounds, beautifully landscaped, with waterfalls, ponds, tropical birds, koi fish, palm trees, and plants everywhere. What a lush environment! The pool area was huge and very decadent with 4 waterslides for the kids but of course adults can join in too! The upper pool area was for adults only...more quiet and secluded. I heard it was ok to go topless there so I might try it next time in that area! LOL! I did enjoy daiquiris by the pool and the view was amazing. Mist came out from around the palm trees periodically to cool us off - exhilarating. Wonderful time indeed. Also the Tropical Breeze Cafe and Latte Bar are great places, not too expensive to eat while you are there.
Excellent Pool Centrally Located in mid-strip area and 1 block from Deuce bus stop Good restaurants, economical Clean, comfy, quiet room Theme: HotelComparison: about averageDirections: Across from Caesar's Palace on the Strip

 | | | | Flamingo Las Vegas: Give It a Chance!
| | | | |
Everyone gives the Flamingo a bad rap. After I told people we'd booked a weekend there, most of them made comments about how it was old and run down and not very nice at all. But the price was right and the location was ideal, so I kept our reservation and went in with low expectations. I don't know what Flamingo those people were talking about! The one I stayed in was quite grand! Our room was huge, I loved the bright coloured decorations, and the floor to ceiling windows overlooking Caesar's Palace made for very romantic night views. My only complaint would be that the restaurants are not very good, but you're on the corner of Flamingo and The Strip, you're not hurting for good restaurants, yeah?
The gardens (complete with flamingos of course, also ducks and penguins) are beautiful, and while the pool may not be as lavish as some, it's still perfectly nice. If you can get a strip view, especially from a high floor, it's awesome. The standard rooms are quite spacious, and I love the brightly coloured tropical decorating scheme. Leave a Comment
