    My wife nd I stayed at the Mark Hopkins for 7 nights. We received excellent service from all of the hotel personnel even though our room had been booked through Hotwire.com. The rooms were slighty smaller than newer facilities but the service and decor made up for it. We received free local and 800 calls because of the length of our stay. The hotel also provides nightly turn down service and the attendant filled the ice bucket each night. The room was immaculate and kept exceptionally clean throughout our stay. The concierge was one of the best I have ever used. He secured a rental car for me at an excellent price, had it brought to the hotel, and secured an upgrade to a premium vehicle at no extra charge. He even offered to return the car for us if we returned to the hotel by 5 pm. If I were going to SF I would definitely stay at the Mark Hopkins!

    The MH has an exceptional fitness center (as if you needed one after walking the hills of SF). Towels, water, music, etc. were all provided in the fitness center. The business center was also exceptional.

  • Directions: Located on top of Nob Hill, one of the finer districts of SF. The Cal. cable car stops outside the main entrance. The Mason-Hyde & Mason-Powell cable car lines are 1 block down the hill. Easy going down but you have to work coming back up!

  • The service at this hotel was wonderful. The room with classic decor was comfortable, clean, and elegant. The concierge was always helpful when we needed anything. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

    Visit the Top of the Mark (the bar upstairs). Since this hotel sits on top of Nob Hill, the bar offers amazing views of San Francisco. The live music and dancing are also very romantic and good for couples.

    In addition, I loved the location of this hotel because it was very central, nestled between the "downtown" area and Chinatown. The trolleys were a short walk away, allowing access to all the major areas of the city.

    Luxurious, pleasant, lovely with a view! Mark Hopkins is a really nice hotel and the jazz-bar on top isn't bad either. Their red wines are excellent and even though the breakfast trays for room-service were quite ..plain, the service was excellent. If you book a room over the internet, you can get a pretty good deal too!

    It is a historic hotel and is probably considered one of the finest hotels in the city. The picture of the city that is located on my main page is from my room at the Mark.

  • Fantastic hotel. Higher floors get fantastic views over the city. Top of the Mark Martini lounge and restaurant has stunning views and a huge selection of Martinis and wines. The hotel is a little expensive, but nice to treat yourself. Location is a little out of the way for the main sights, but the cable car stops nearby and everything is walkable - downhill and get a taxi back.

    Service was excellent. We have stayed twice and have not been disappointed.

    Great views. Great buffet breakfast - a little expensive. Great Martini Bar with music some nights.
