 | Venice San Clemente Palace Reviews | Tips 1 - 3 of 3 | | If you have always dreamed of living in a palace, even if only for a week.... San Clemente is not called 'Palace' for nothing, being situated on a private island in the Venetian lagoon. The building itself is a remarkable monastery (which also served as a hospital) hospital dating from the 19th century. Its distinct exterior is terra-cotta-colored, with white trim and tall, arched windows. Interiors and service certainly match the first impression.... As many similar hotels, even a short stay at San Clemente Palace can seriously damage your credit card... However, there may be ways of cutting the hotel's minimum rate from, say, 240 EUR to about 150 EUR, which is more acceptable. Check Your Corporate Rate: chances are, the firm you work for - if it is a large one - has a corporate rate arrangement with the hotel of your choice. This alone saves you about 50% off the publshed lowest Internet price. Unfortunately, otherwise there's no way that San Clemente's rate can be cut to below 200 EUR.... Internet: second-best source of bargains. Lowest I have seen for this hotel is 220 EUR. Leave a Comment

More to come!!
One of the best things the San Clemente Palace can offer are the views over the Venice Lagoon (see hotel postcard attached to this tip!)... OK, not every room has such splendid vistas, but even views of the hotel's own 'backyard' (read: amazing gardens) are worthy of a special mention. Leave a Comment
