 | Venice Olimpia Hotel Reviews | Tips 1 - 3 of 3 | | Olimpia definitely exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious, had a lovely view overlooking a garden, was exquistely appointed, immaculately clean, and very comfortable. A decent breakfast was also provided. Olimpia provides a terrific location. It is next to the Piazzale Roma (where the buses come & go to the airport) as well as very close to the Stazione Ferrovie (which is the arrival and departure point of trains servicing Venice). Another asset is that when you inevitably become lost in Venice, signs are always present to direct you to the Piazzale Roma which is next to your hotel. The hotel staff are helpful, friendly, and multi-lingual. While Venice is correctly described as an expensive city, this hotels rates were half the "less expensive city" of Florence's.
The Olimpia is also close to a Vaporetta station. Also, there is a supermarket (COOP) directly in back of the Vaporetta station. Venice restaurants are not really all that great and are highly predatory and inventively predatory (for example, the tourist menu may be reasonable, but they charge a cover, or absolutely roast you with the wine prices, including the alleged 'house wine'). To avoid an expensive and mediocre meal, go to the supermarket ( Billa is also located throughout Venice) and buy your goodies there. The wine is cheap, the food terrific and cheap. For example, a Bellini cocktail at Harry's (rip-off) Bar is $16. You can get a bottle of Bellini which will provide five or six Harry-sized cocktails for 4.47. This little hotel was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were newly refurbished and the bathroom was large with a huge new tub. The rooms were quiet and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They did have an interest in pushing the free murano trip though, which we declined. I would recommend this 3 star hotel to anyone. I don't know the value of the room as it was included in the price of the tour we took.
The hotel sat on a small canal with a restaurant right next door. Our room overlooked a tropical courtyard to the back. The breakfast was one of the better we had while in Italy. Nothing fancy but at least some choices. It's also a 3 minute boat ride to the train station or you can walk to the bridge to get there, about 10 minutes.Website: www.hotel-olimpia.com

This hotel was decent. My in laws had a very large room over looking the garden which was very charming. My husband and I had a small room overlooking the bus station, not so charming! Request a garden room! The breakfasts were wonderful. Very good coffee and pastries.
It's very conveniently located near the train station, bus station and rental cars. We came in by train and left by car so it was very easy to get in and out of the city. Other hotels may require that you take a taxi or bus (which are both really boats) to get to your hotel. We only had to get off the train and walk a few blocks and we were there, which was very nice. Wonderful Gelato shop right around the corner!
