Cicerone Hotel: Great location    Check Rates

  • our stay at cicerone was very pleasant and accomodating. The bathrooms and rooms were small but nice. It was a very typical nicer European Hotel. Its location is great. there is a taxi stand within a few blocks. Several Restuarants. Its a very short walk to the Vatican, Castel St. Angelo, and Pantheon. Also finding the hotel on any map is easy because it is right behind the ministry of justice. We also found that its a fairly easy walk to popular areas like the campo di fiori.

  • The hotel was great. The service was terrific, and all the staff was friendly and helpful! This hotel is in walking distance of several good restaurants and shopping. It is very clean. I don't know about the price, as I was prepaid with a tour group. St. Peter's is about a 15 minute walk from here.

  • Very nice hotel. Rooms were comfortable only the bathtubs seemed awfully narrow if you wanted a good soak. Breakfasts were typically European.

  • I stayed in December with a tour group for 3 nights. My room looked shabby--the wallpaper was peeling and there were black scuffmarks on the walls. Furnishings looked old and very used. On the last of 3 nights there was raw sewage backing up in toilets, both in afternoon and early morning. Public rooms were well kept. Staff was not helpful, except for bellhops. Concierge and desk personal were indifferent to a wide range of clients. No one answered the phone at the desk when I called for soap. Finally found the housekeeper passing in the hall for additonal soap and pillows.

Automated wake-up call was on time.
    Location was quite good.

Cicerone Hotel: Roman Disappointment!    Check Rates

  • Was also there in December 2007 with a group, and found the rooms small, shabby and rundown, a far cry from the hotel website's description of a "luxury four star city centre hotel". The location was quite good, within easy (15 - 20 minutes) walking distance of the Vatican, Piazza di Spagna, etc., and there were several reasonable restaurants close by. The hotel breakfast bar was pitiful compared with other hotels on this trip, with minimal variety and cold scrambled eggs and bacon. Le Bouchon, the hotel's restaurant, served a good meal for our group on our last night.
Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, some should never be in the hospitality business.
The Christmas Tree and lights were lovely!
I would not go back unless there was an ownership/management change and I knew someone who could verify the improvement in quality.

  • We stayed in the the Hotel Cicerone for our honeymoon in 2002.

We booked through a travel agent, and were pleased with the hotel immediately.

The staff was very helpful, and the lounge was a GREAT place to start or end an evening. The live pianist made for a really fun atmosphere.

My husband and I had only a few issues. First, we understood that most european hotels will give you two twin beds. This being our honeymoon, we asked our travel agent to make SURE that we did infact have a room with one larger bed. When we were taken to our room.. twin beds. We asked the front desk for a change, and were told that when we came back from sightseeing that evening... new room.. one bed.

We returned to find we were still in the same room, only they had been kind enough to push the beds together. we were so tried it didn't matter, and ended up keeping it that way for the rest of our stay.

Cicerone Hotel: Elegant Accomadations    Check Rates

  • We stayed at The HOTEL CICERONE in ROME, which we booked through Globus/Monogram Tours. It was part of the upgraded premium package, and well worth the nominal additional cost. The hotel was modern, clean, spacious by European standards, and within walking distance to most of the sights.

The Concierges were neither friendly or very helpful at any of the Hotels we stayed at, and provided the least amount of service possible. You must stay on them (don't be afraid to be pushy) if you want get anything accomplished. If you need a taxi, or dinner reservations, ask the Concierge for assistance.

I would definitely recommend The Cicerone Hotel if you are looking for more modern accomadations.

A first class hotel, located in the downtown Rome area. The rooms had private baths, and good central air conditioning...a definite plus during the summer!!!! There was also an American Bar in the lobby which was a nice meeting point while waiting for our tour group.
