| | | | |
Was also there in December 2007 with a group, and found the rooms small, shabby and rundown, a far cry from the hotel website's description of a "luxury four star city centre hotel". The location was quite good, within easy (15 - 20 minutes) walking distance of the Vatican, Piazza di Spagna, etc., and there were several reasonable restaurants close by. The hotel breakfast bar was pitiful compared with other hotels on this trip, with minimal variety and cold scrambled eggs and bacon. Le Bouchon, the hotel's restaurant, served a good meal for our group on our last night. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, some should never be in the hospitality business. The Christmas Tree and lights were lovely! I would not go back unless there was an ownership/management change and I knew someone who could verify the improvement in quality.

 | | | | Cicerone Hotel: Elegant Accomadations

We stayed at The HOTEL CICERONE in ROME, which we booked through Globus/Monogram Tours. It was part of the upgraded premium package, and well worth the nominal additional cost. The hotel was modern, clean, spacious by European standards, and within walking distance to most of the sights. The Concierges were neither friendly or very helpful at any of the Hotels we stayed at, and provided the least amount of service possible. You must stay on them (don't be afraid to be pushy) if you want get anything accomplished. If you need a taxi, or dinner reservations, ask the Concierge for assistance. I would definitely recommend The Cicerone Hotel if you are looking for more modern accomadations.
A first class hotel, located in the downtown Rome area. The rooms had private baths, and good central air conditioning...a definite plus during the summer!!!! There was also an American Bar in the lobby which was a nice meeting point while waiting for our tour group.
