 | Prague Imperial Reviews | Tips 1 - 9 of 9 | | This venerable former luxury hotel built in 1914 was a great place to stay in the centre of Prague, combining old world character with very reasonable prices including breakfast in the morning. It is open 24hrs and the ceramic tiled interiors of the entrance hall and the cafe on the ground floor are claimed to be the only originals of their type in the world - they are certainly very beautiful and if you check the website, you will be able to see pictures of both these areas. The rooms are fairly basic and none are ensuite due to the age and historic value of the hotel, but in my mind it is a small price to pay to appreciate the faded granduer of this place. Although the temperatures outside were frequently below freezing, the room temperatures were always very pleasant. I actually booked this hotel through the website listed below which worked perfectly fine with no problems and best of all there were no commission charges...
Breakfast is taken in a room behind the coffee shop which is covered with ceramics from floor to ceiling. The breakfast is basic but good value. Its more like a high-end hostel than a hotel. However, it was very spacious and comfortable. There is a fantastic restaurant downstairs with a great bar. Live music through the week entertains guests and the general public. The walls and ceiling are lined in ceramic tiles...the only place like it in the world according to the hotel. Try it...you will like it.
The location makes it easy to get about anywhere you might want to go. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Close to the Astronomical Clock.

More of a hotel than a hostel, hence the "(s)", and not a bad budget option if you are in a group. 2 and 3 bed rooms are large but basic and shared facilities are clean. The free breakfast is pretty poor (dry bread, salami and water) but if you're properly enjoying Prague you won't be up for it anyway. Ask for a room on one of the upper floors in summer as the passing trams are extremely noisy when the windows are open.
The bar downstairs is pleasant enough and bizarrely sells baskets of stale doughnuts which you can throw at customers. Apparenty it's part of the drinking experience but i'm sceptical as to wether it ever actually happens. I spent three nights here in Sept 2004 and was very impressed with the cafe and jazz music. However, since its not so expensive, youth groups come and can be quite noisy.
Downside is that bathrooms and toilets are in the hall and not in your room. There is a plate of donuts on the counter of the cafe and if someone buys the plate, things can get crazy as people throw the donuts at other customers. Live Jazz music on Sat & Sun nights. We have just returned from our short stay in Prague. Your services proved to be excellent. We hope to return next year and we will most likely use your services again.
Hotel Imperial, is the former luxury hotel built in 1914. Its secession interior ranks it among the most beautiful monuments in Europe.

I liked the feel of the Imperial, it was full of character and was a suprisingly lively and interesting place to hang out... In the cafe/restaurant was a huge plate of dougnhuts with the offer of being allowed to throw the entire contents at fellow diners if you paid the heft price for the privelage It was my one regret of my stay there that I didnt take up the offer!
This is a?@budget accomodation so dont expect 5 star treatment but it has a friendly, safe and interesting atmosphere Leave a Comment

now, for a holiday that cost me 80 pounds, i was sceptical. however, quite impressed with the imperial. quite a strange atmosphere, the lifts are.....interesting to say the least. breakfast was a fun experience, more a grab what you can before the milk gets warm thing, but we could nick a few bread rolls so that was lunch sorted. rooms clean, furniture old and old. showers - bring your flip flops. but i was happy because there were locks on the doors. and i walked around the whole weekend pretending to be the ambassador to prague or some other diplomat - the hotel looks like its straight out of 'tea with mussolini' (great film, you should rent it) Theme: HotelComparison: least expensive
