This is a hotel frequented by large tour groups from regional countries. But the loads of tour groups did not detract from the efficency of hotel staff. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Daily buffet breakfast included passable Western food. The hotel has a pleasant, clean swimming pool. The tour reps in the lobby will PHONE YOUR ROOM everyday if you disclose your name/ room number, so don't do so unless you want daily wake-up calls. Starbucks coffee shop shares the property so you can escape for morning coffee and Bangkok Post. Night bazaar is just across the soi if you're a shopper or want to enjoy the nightlife. The hotel is a soft-landing for budget-moderate travellers who make their first triip to Chiang Mai. swampybob_1@yahoo.com
Pleasant but the furnishing and overall ambience is a bit tired. The toilet is also not well maintained with stains and cracks every where. The breakfast that comes with the room is okay but lacks variety if you stay there for more than 2 days.
The bed is huge - I think it is super king size as you don't even get to roll off the bed or kick your partner!!!
The good point about this hotel is that the Chang Klan night markett is practically at your doorstep and if you can't live without Starbucks, it's just right next to it with Haagen-Daz beside it and McDonald's opposite.
We booked the hotel for 3 nights stay in a standard room. Costs us around SGD$45 (USD$29)per night per room. In the end, we got free upgrade to premium room because they were fully booked. The room is spacious. Has the basic amenities that we needed: Bed, TV, Aircon, king size bed. It comes with a bathtub (though we didn't use it). The breakfast was not very satisfactory though. The buffet dishes were cold (except for the omelette and the "Today's Special" corner. The waffle at the "today's special" corner are nice though).
It is very near the night bazaar which makes it very easy for us to do our shopping, dinner and massages.
We stayed there for five nights during the peak Christmas season and we thought it was a great hotel. Fully occupied and yet they had no problems with overcrowding or lack of food during the breakfast. Both the famous Chiang Mai night market and the popular-for-seafood Anusarn market are located at its doorstep. The old cultural city is nearby. Most of the famous wats are within walking distance as is Tapae gate.
The service there is excellent. They are friendly and efficient. I called room service for a flask of hot water for just two nights in a row and after that, every night when we got back the lady who cleaned out the room in the afternoon would have placed a fresh flask of hot water on the dresser. Also, the adapter for Thailand's two-pin plug is available free for a returnable 100 Baht deposit.
Variety at the breakfast table is not so great but the spread is sufficient. There was fresh, pure tomato juice and home-made yoghurt. And every morning they serve a different Thai specialty.
Great hotel for its price. We paid USD180 for five nights (twin room), which is a very affordable price. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and will stay there again if I revisit Chiang Mai.
Warning though, they don't have kettles in the room for you to boil water. And since Thailand's tap water is not drinkable, you only have the two complimentary bottles of water they provide daily.
The better thing about this hotel is the location. In front of the Night Market, with a big room. The breakfast is not so good, the swimming pool is clear and staff very gentle. We payed U$26 for a double deluxe room I would stay there again
This is a very popular hotel among the tour groups due to its strategic location within the night market itself. Just walk out from the lobby door and step into the opposite road to the heart of Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar at Changklan Road. You will have endless shopping bargains here. The hotel restaurant also serves a good selection & quality buffet. In some times, there is a band playing some favourite western and local music pieces.
I had quite a comfortable stay in this hotel, the staff were quite friendly and were most willing to help with any request. The only thing is that the reception for the television programmes were quite bad..but I didn't bother asking for help from the staff because most of the programmes were in Thai. :P A bit troublesome was the key which was still the conventional key(attached to a big piece of metal bearing the room number) instead of a magnetic strip card. Overall, I would still definitely recommend to people who are looking for a hotel with a good location, fairly comfortable and not too expensive. ^_^
good location just opposite the start of the night bazaar.
A good hotel, that we didn't "live" too much, because we were out all day long, and so tired at the end that bed was all that matters. But breakfast was good, and service was nice. The area is calm, with lots or commercial places around, allowing a pleasant small walk around, to start digestion, before carrying your bones to bed.
