This hotel is located near the Beijing Railway Station. So if you get to Beijing by train, you will probably arrive only two blocks away from this hotel. It is well located right between the Forbidden City and WTC. So taxis do not cost too much if taken from there. Accomodations are very comfortable, price is average, breakfest in western style and service is friendly.
The hotel offers a health center where you can get body or feet massage. Specially handy when you stay all day long walking. There is a Tourist information desk where you can get information on tours, exhibitions and shows in Beijing. Also ATMs (Visa, Master, others) are available in the lobby. I have NOT stayed at this hotel, but have visited it several times for a coffee. The staf have always been friendly and helpful. The hotel is 3-star and is based around aold hutongs, very close to the Bell and Drum Towers in one of the older parts of Beijing. It is in an excellent location for the main sites of Beijing.
It was formerly the home of a Qing Minister of Posts, and more recently the home of the notorious Kang Sheng. It is like staying in a private house or a museum, with covered corridors winding through little gardens and clusters of bamboo. Rooms apparently have TV, minibar, etc. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 24 Xiaoshiqiao Hutong, Jiugulou DajiePhone: 0106403229Directions: Xicheng district, west of the Bell Tower.Website: www.bbgh.com.cn Other Contact: bbgh@bbgh.com.cn

This hotel provides all the usuals; a laundry service, single rooms if you prefer a more comfortable, quieter night sleep, and dorms in the basement, whilst breakfast is basic cereal and toast. Prices are very reasonable, and staff are generally friendly. The best part of the place however, is its charming location, with the beautiful hutongs right on your doorstep. Also, the architecture is something to behold aswell, as the place was built during the Qing dynasty, and looks and feels as if you are staying in your very own chinese temple. (Bike rental and lockers are also provided, whilst you can pay extra for evening meals).
HUTONGS: I spent many a peaceful afternoon or morning just wandering the maze of old alleys and streets. And i admit, it was the first real time that it struck me where i was, and just how different this place is compared to home. COURTYARDS: Most single rooms share a courtyard with the room adjacent, and this is a perfect way to meet up with fellow travellers, and sit out and soak up the ambience of the distant city noise. ARCHITECTURE: unlike most modern or retro-styled buildings, this building truly has a story and a history, and every morning i was there i could not believe where i was. American bucks get you a four star hotel at discount prices. No joke. I think I spent about $60 a night and got a king size bed, a great view, a nice area with a couch and a couple of chairs. The rooms are very nice. The webpage has a good look at one. They are very spacious and comfortable. The A/C was good. It kept me cool even though it was a very hot day. Plus, they gave me complementary breakfast and bottles of water. There is a KFC and a McDonalds across the street, but this is China, so eat at one of the local joints around the corner. Or, the Hard Rock cafe is a ten minute ride by taxi. This is my favorite hotel in China. The service was way above what I got in Hong Kong or Shanghai. Cheaper too!
The Sports City Cafe is a sports bar to the extreme. The tour guide I befriended lost to me at a game of basketball on the court in the middle of the bar. It is totally geared towards the West, but locals come there too. In addition to that, there is a formal dining area, and breakfast is served on each floor. There is a gym, a pool, Sauna, Beauty Salon, Massage Centre and separate lounges equipped with televisions for ladies and gentlemen. Travel and business facilities are also there. They can arrange airport transfer, tours of the city (and great wall) and even hook you up with plane tickets. There is a subway stop across the street, and a direct route west will lead you to the Palace Museum and Tienanmen Square. Great location! Leave a Comment
