Really a spacious apartment with living/sleeping room, well-equipped kitchen, bathroom with washing machine and a large terrace! Just a short walk to the beach. Shops and the bus stop are just around the corner. Excellent place for the price! I paid 700 rupees in 2003. Leave a Comment

Not a very special motel, but prices are good and the site location is very nice! Breakfast is ok, but beds can be better!

When looking for accomodation in Mauritius, it is better to get in touch with the local people.
Dont buy packages over the internet or at your travelagent.
We found out that there are a lot of accomodations (especially appartments and villas (the so called pieds a l'eau - feet in the water) that can be rented at a very low price per day or per week.
When you are 4 or more in the party, it is really cheap.
The taxi drivers are the ones who know best.

I stayed at the Aquarella on my last day on Mauritius. It's a very charming place right on the water's edge.
The rooms are nice with fan and ensuite bathroom, but the best thing of my rooms was the balcony. Could have stayed there for ages and watched the fishermen at work.
Price includes a continental breakfast.

I found this nice apartment by chance (well, actually the apartment found me). The owner saw me walking along the street with my backpack and asked if I wanted to have a look at his flats. And as the place was really nice I even stayed longer than initially planned.
The flat has a kitchenette, bathroom and large bed. The owner and his family live next door and they can organize tours and other activities for you. Excellent hotel, good rooms and finally for our vacation there the best beds we had so far. Food was excellent like a real good hotel should have.
You can go by a private boat directly into town. And very quite and peacefull situated! A real good one to be at!

Les Aigrettes is a nice hotel in Mahébourg. The building itself looks a bit patched up, but rooms are nice and quite large. All rooms have balcony with seaview and aircon.
A continental breakfast is included in the price.

You can find different types of flats at Easy World. I opted for the cheapest option, bedroom with ensuite bathroom. It was ok, with fridge, tv (didn't try it) and fan. The whole place could have been a bit cleaner (especially the windows), but it was bearable.
The best thing was the roof therrace with great views towards the sea.

La Cocoteraie is an ok place to stay, but I'm sure there are better places to be found in this price category.
My room was quite basic and looked like it could do with a make-over. I had a fridge, water boiler and an aircon (old, but working) in the room.
The good points of the hotel were a nice swimming pool and a good and inexpensive restaurant. The staff was very friendly aswell. Leave a Comment
