The pros of staying here is the proximity of the Egyptian Museum and the cost of taxis going everywhere (since you're in the center of Cairo it is cheaper and easier to get taxis). The cons of atying here are plenty:

Hotel is used by Middle Eastern businessmen and that carries along prostitutes everyday at the shisha bar next to the hotel lobby and reception.

The abundance of people checking in and out is such that you, as a guest have severe difficulties in finding a free recepcionist to ask for a bar bill or such and the Sherlock Holmes bar, which is nice, by the way, is always filled with groups of European or American people shouting at a wide screen TV showing Eurosports Channel.

Rooms are nice and employees very friendly; the elevators aur those super rapid ones but they are always crowded as well.

Don't miss the view from the luxury restaurant on the top floor; you can go there and enjoy the view, take pictures (but do not seat on a table).

    Proximity (centre Cairo)
    Not expensive
    Spacious rooms

Ramses Hilton: Bad service corrupt staff    Check Rates

  • Just came back from 1 week trip to Cairo. Stayed at Rames Hilton for six days. This is the worst hotel I ever stayed in. Arrived late in the morning...requested a quiet room..but give a noisy room facing highway. Worst experience was with INFORMATION DESK, RECEPTION DESK and BELLMAN. They have there own agencies setup from where they eat commission on any services eg. guided tour, cruise on nile & limo service. We ended up buying our tours from Nile hilton as we came to know that Ramses information desk was fooling us. If you plan not to take the taxi from the hotel as they charge 3 times the rate...they will send one to follow you and they give you a head ache for fare.

Please do not use the both the BANKS for exchange in the Ramses hilton lobby. If you do....do count the money on the counter as they always keep 20 to 30 bucks in their pocket....happened with us twice we exchanged the money.

Lobby is crowded by strange looking local men...which I guess are there to sit in the lobby and stare at tourists all day.

So for 6 days we avoided staying at the hotel except sleeping at night. We been to all the other hotels in cairo...e.g Grand Hyatt, Nile hilton, Le Meridian, Mina House & Four Seasons...these places looked like hotels for tourists and to enjoy your vacaton.

Ramses Hilton: Old, noisy, crazy...    Check Rates

  • My favourite thing about this hotel is its location: right on the Nile. Great view, especially if you get a high floor room. Other than that... well it is very noisy, especially in the lobby.

I would not recommend getting a city view room as the traffic outside is just insane, so all that honking and stuff will probably get on your nerves at night. Definitely go for the Nile view room. Either way, the view will be pretty cool.

The staff are surprisingly nice. I also noticed that they have a pretty diverse/international team.

The place is in need of a major rennovation, though: the electric outlets are all shaky; the TV, phone, and the hairdryer are... well, ancient - just to name a few things.

Also, do not use the bellman to get your taxi. We tried it once, were overcharged, and the actual cab was not even a taxi (though it was a very nice car in comparison to all the beaten-up black-and-white cabs they have here). Black market. Every since then we started getting our own taxis and the bellman would always make some comment like, "Be careful, do not leave anything in this car, I do not know the driver...." As if it mattered....

Ramses Hilton: Nile or City Views    Check Rates
  • Satisfaction:
  • I have never stayed here, but know people who did and were satisfied with their stay. The facilities seem to be good and the service was efficient and friendly. We were invited for a meal which was good, and the surroundings were calm and relaxed.
However the external environment could be better. The hotel is near a very busy road and there are flyovers nearby too. Even a bus station seems to be there as the place is always crowded with buses.

The rooms overlooking the Nile have great views and you can watch all the activities on the river.
A mall and cinema are readily available nearby.
Prices vary considerably depending on when and how they are booked Up to 75% discount has been known to be available.
Rooms have safe deposit box and internet access.

Breakfast is good at Ramses Hilton, and services are also good. May be this place is in the city center so when you open the windor you can here the noise outside which was very loud. I found iron & iron board inside my room so I am satisfied.

They give crabtree & Evelyn's soaps & shampoos which I love

Ramses Hilton: Noisy with a charm of its own    Check Rates
  • Satisfaction:
  • The check in was slow and not welcoming....very matter of fact.
My room was on the 18th floor, with a view of the Nile. Quite fascinating. Room was tidy and clean and large and spacious. The wardrobe doors are old and so are the chest of draws.
    A/c is a bit noisy.

The hotel is lively and the lobby very active...like a market place...with a hub all 24 hours!!
Food is nothing great to write about. Restaurants serve very average quality of food. Pool closes too early at 6 pm.

Would rate the hotel very average.

Great views of the Nile and the city traffic!!
