    The Sonesta St George is a 5 star hotel and is beautiful. It has several restaurants, including Japanese, Italian and Egyptian. It has cafes, a health club, shops, pool. The staff here will bend over backwards to help you, especially down by the pool side where you will be handed towels and if you try to move your sunbed, the attendants will rush over to do it for you. The breakfast is amazing with such a large choice. There is even a Japanese food selection to choose from and meats such as sausages and chicken with vegetables! The lobby is spectacular with a large chandelier. This hotel was not right in the centre of Luxor - it was a 5-10 minute walk.

    The best thing about this hotel was the pontoon, where everyday, just before sunset, you could sit at one of the tables and watch the sunset over the Nile, while classical music was played from their speakers.

    Category 5 stars - many facilities like a huge pool - several shops - English styled pub called "Nobles" with a perfect and helpfull waiter - comfortable rooms - several restaurants and a "Bank of Cairo"

    In the english pub you just can relax - read books from the local library - and around 6 pm a perfect view on the sundown above the Nile.

    This is the best hotel I have stayed in. The service was amazing. You could have ate your dinner off the floor it was so clean.

    We were upgraded to a suite at no extra cost as they just felt generous!

    We loved it so much we are going back to the same place twice next year.

    If you go to Luxor this is the place to stay.

    The pool was spotless and we were looked after really well by the lovely pool boys.
    They would not let us lift a finger. They got our towels, moved our tables, put up our sun brollies. Got us drinks.

    The view of the Nile is wonderful, no need to pay for a Nile View as 92% of the rooms either have a front Nile or side Nile view.

    Not cheap, but well worth every penny. I would have paid double.

  • It was December and the hotel was decorated for Christmas and New Year. Amazing snow village and all the normal decorstions to give atmosphere.
    Service and accomodation first class.
    We were lucky to get rock bottom prices as tourism was at a low that year.

    comfortable room and pleasant decorations.

  • if you can afford it stay here - you wont be sorry - book the balloon ride over the tombs and temples - you wont forget it in a hurry - great staff, great pool, great food - try the japanese restaurant, expensive but tasty.

  • Other reviewsmade this hotel sound like paradise. It wasn't. It certainly does look beautiful- the rooms were a lovely size with comfortable beds and great air conditioning. All room on the sides have a reasonable Nile view. We were on the left hand side which is next door to a public swimming pool. Very noisy until past 10pm. We stayed for a week and during that time there was a prizegiving ceremony and a wedding celebration held there (the latter at midnight on our last night) The staff were all efficient but were never really friendly or engaging, with the exception of the pool attendants and the fruit juice man at breakfast. I have visited Egypt 7 times now and have concluded that they really can't do breakfasts- this place is no exception unless you like eggs. I had a pleasant week and would stay there again, but please don't expect amazing- you won't get it.

    Lovely big pool and pontoon area to watch the sun set. Get feluccas and motor boats from here, you get a great deal. Delicious icecream, although you don't get much in your cone. Huge, comfortable sunbeds!

    Another 5 Star Hotel that offers superb service, yet the rooms are a little smaller then other hotels in the region. The hotel is conveniently situated along the river Nile very close to all temples on the Eastern Side of Luxor.

    The hotel offers all amenties a five star hotel offers. Several shops are found in the ground level as well as the reception level.
    A pool offers relaxation outdoors from a busy day exploring and a pontoon can be used for outdoor functions and dinners with stunning views of the River Nile.

  • We have stayed at this Hotel for 4 years now and it seems to always get better. They are in the prosess of adding 3 more floors. We have just returned 13th June 2007. From check in, which is easy and quick, through to room, room service, dinning, plenty of choice to general cleaning staff. One of the best. Would recommend to everyone who needs good quality and comfort. The staff will give you help in finding everything you need to enjoy you're stay from getting a taxi to places to visit.

    This hotel has many outstanding features incl. the only Japanesse resturant in Luxor. There are film shows everynight on the pontoon, under the stars. A nice pool with swim-up bar and the poolside staff will give you a clean dry towel after every swim. They even move you're shade around as the sun moves. The room stewards will give you extra items of toiltaries when you require, changing used towls in the evening, if used for a shower after a long trip out visiting the many sites. Reception staff smile and attended to and (If any) problems you may have quickly with no hassel.

  • Have just returned from Sonesta in Luxor. Excellent hotel in every dept - food, staff, cleanliness, concierge. Excellent position overlkg Nile West Bank. Don't think about going there GO !!!
