Motel Abomey is close to the main road system and just up the hill to the North from the centre of Abomey. It is classed as a 2 star and is at the moment the highest class of hotel in Abomey. It is not luxurious but is perfectly fine, clean and comfortable. The motel is set back from the road and has a nice garden with very tall trees where many fruit bats roost.
My room was a bungalow in the garden which was quite large, a bit old and shabby but tidy and very clean with everything I needed in working order and plenty of hot water. I only stayed 1 night and it was very quiet. Staff were very helpful, although they spoke little English. I was alone but felt quite safe and comfortable.
The food in the restaurant was really quite good. I had chicken curry with rice and the portions were very big. There is a small bar in reception for that very welcome beer at the end of a day’s sightseeing. Theme: MotelComparison: about averagePhone: 5013 80
